LITURGY OF THE HOURS
INTERCESSIONS

"Let us pray to God our Father, who from of old has called his people to salvation:
Lord, protect your people.

You promised to plant the seed of justice among your people,
Protect the holiness of your
Church.

Lord, teach all men and women to listen to your word,
And help believers to
persevere in holiness.

Keep us in the love of your Spirit,
That we may know the
mercy of your Son who
is to come.

Father most merciful, strengthen us to the last,
Until the day of the coming
of Jesus Christ our Lord."

PRAYER REQUEST

We ask for your prayers for baby Briella Grace and her family.

Briella Grace was just born preterm at 27 weeks. She and her family face quite a journey over the next several months.

Briella means “God is my strength.” Grace is the last name of the doctor who gave them hope.

We ask our Blessed Mother to take Briella Grace under her protection and intercede with her Son to hear our prayers and hold Briella Grace in His comforting arms. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers.

THE SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

In his sermon "Oratio 52" St. Anselm (1033 - 1109), Bishop and Doctor of the Church gives us a unique perspective of our Blessed Mother. To all who wonder why Catholics venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary, here is the answer;

"Virgin, blessed above all creatures, through your blessing all creation is blessed, not only creation from its Creator, but the Creator himself has been blessed by creation.

"To Mary God gave his only-begotten Son, whom he loved as himself. Through Mary God made himself a Son, not different but the same, by nature Son of God and Son of Mary. The whole universe was created by God, and God was born of Mary. God created all things, and Mary gave birth to God. The God who made all things gave himself form through Mary, and thus he made his own creation. He who could create all things from nothing would not remake his ruined creation without Mary.

"God, then, is the Father of the created world and Mary the mother of the re-created world. God is the Father by whom all things were given life, and Mary the mother through whom all things were given new life. For God begot the Son, through whom all things were made, and Mary gave birth to him as the Savior of the world. Without God's Son, nothing could exist; without Mary's Son, nothing could be redeemed."

FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

Advent is the beginning of a new liturgical year. It is a season of eager longing, spiritual preparation and joyful hope for the coming of our Saviour at Christmas.

The season of Advent recalls not just the coming of Christ at Christmas, but also His coming by grace into our hearts, and His last coming at the Final Judgement.

“Oh, what happiness would be ours if all men, individuals, families, and nations, would but let themselves be governed by Christ!”

– Pope Pius XI

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.

To combat the growing global acceptance of atheism and secularism in the early years of the 20th century, Pope Pius XI established the Solemnity of Christ the King in 1925 as a reminder that Christ is King, not only of earthly rulers, but King of our hearts, our lives, and the entire universe.

On this solemnity, let us ask ourselves if we unconditionally allow Christ the King – who knows what is best for us – to reign in our hearts and lives. When we allow Christ the King to reign in us, we become vessels for His endless graces. If we want to be exalted in the eyes of Christ the King, let us practice humility.

THE MAN OF THE SHROUD

See this wonderful exhibit at St. Patrick Church in McHenry.

The Shroud of Turin is the most investigated artifact ever. The more scientists analyze it, the more they acknowledge its authenticity. While Hollywood and AI creators are busy recharacterizing Jesus Christ, this exhibit is fascinating, beautiful and enables us to see the true Jesus Christ.

Exhibit Schedule:
Tues., Wed., Thurs. - 9am to 7pm
Fri. - 9am to noon

Enter exhibit by side doors between the Church and school.
