Welcome to Villa Desiderata Lakeside Retreats located on seven beautiful acres of Pistakee Bay shoreline in McHenry, Illinois. We have an affection for 12-Step programs, currently providing retreats for members of AA, ALANON, ACOA, ACA and NA. Our facilities are also available to rent for your own spiritual-based programs. s, as well as facility rentals where groups merely rent the space to operate their own programs. The facilities include sleeping quarters, gathering areas, dining room, a Chapel, a Labyrinth, a fire pit and an outdoor cooking area. Villa facilitated retreats typically begin on Friday evening and conclude following breakfast on Sunday. Each retreat has its own focus or theme. The sessions generally have both large and small group activities involving movie clips and/or music. In addition to the group interactions, retreatants enjoy the personal time provided to reflect, meditate, walk the grounds, and relax by the shoreline. Family style meals are served in the dining room. Some groups enjoy the outdoor cooking area. Our Chapel offers Sunday Mass for those who are so inclined. On the rental side, our facilities are available for your own spiritual-based retreats, workshops, days of recollection or 12-Step activities. The Villa can accommodate activities of varying lengths, from single day to multiple day programs.
