The First Church of Christ, Scientist, McHenry is a branch church of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts. Our Sunday service consists of readings of scriptural selections from the King James Bible and their correlative passages from our denominational textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy given by two readers elected from the church m
embership. The canonical writings, together with the word of the textbook, corroborating and explaining the Bible texts in their spiritual import and application to all ages, past, present, and future, constitute a sermon undivorced from truth, uncontaminated and unfettered by human hypotheses, and divinely authorized. Our Sunday service is held at 10:30am. Our mid-week testimonial meeting is conducted on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm by the First Reader who selects the hymns and prepares readings from the Bible and Science and Health. A major part of this service includes time for anyone to share healings and inspiration from their study of Christian Science. Childcare is available, if needed. Our Sunday School is open to all young people seeking a thoughtful approach to learning more about God, their own innate spirituality, and how they can improve their own and others lives through deeper study of The Bible and Science & Health. Classes are held each Sunday from 10:30am to 11:30am. Child Care is provided for children under 4 years of age. Our church maintains a library of Bible Lessons, Christian Science Sentinels, and Christian Science Journals that are available for purchase and lending. Our Reading Room is located in our church and is open on Saturdays from 9am-12pm.
