Beginning Your Day

Matthew 28:11–15

“They gave the soldiers a large sum of money.” Matthew 28:12 (NIV)

After Jesus rose from the dead, the guards told the religious leaders what had happened. Instead of accepting the truth, the leaders paid the soldiers to spread a lie—that Jesus’ disciples had stolen His body.

They had seen the evidence, but they still chose not to believe.

This reminds us that sometimes people reject the truth because accepting it would require them to change. But the truth about Jesus cannot be hidden. The tomb was empty, Jesus had risen, and no lie could change that.

As you begin today, remember: truth does not change because someone refuses to believe it. Jesus is alive, and that truth gives us hope every day.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the truth of the resurrection. Help me trust Your Word, stand for what is right, and never be ashamed of Jesus. May my life show others that I believe He is alive. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Beginning Your Day

Matthew 28:1–10

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” — Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

The women came to the tomb with heavy hearts, but they left with wonderful news, Jesus was alive! What looked like the end was really a new beginning.

That is a beautiful reminder for us today. There will be times when life feels dark and we cannot see what God is doing. But the empty tomb reminds us that God is faithful and His promises can always be trusted.

Because Jesus lives, we never have to face life without hope. Whatever today brings, our Savior is alive, He is with us, and He is still working.

As you begin your day, carry this truth with you: Jesus is alive, God is faithful, and there is always hope in Him.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the hope I have because Jesus is alive. Help me trust You today, especially when I cannot see what You are doing. Fill my heart with peace and help me walk closely with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Beginning Your Day

Matthew 27:62–66

“So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.” Matthew 27:66 (NIV)

The religious leaders remembered that Jesus had said He would rise again. So they did everything humanly possible to make sure the tomb remained closed. They sealed the stone and placed guards outside.

But there was one thing they could not do—they could not stop God.

As you begin today, remember: no stone is too heavy, no situation too difficult, and no opposition too powerful for God. When circumstances seem impossible, continue trusting Him. The God who raised Jesus from the grave is still in control.

Prayer: Father, thank You that nothing can defeat Your purposes. When I face situations that seem impossible, strengthen my faith and help me trust You. Thank You for the hope we have because Jesus conquered the grave. May I live today with confidence in the risen Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Matthew 27:57–61

“Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb.” Matthew 27:59–60 (NIV)

Joseph of Arimathea had been a disciple of Jesus, and now, when others had scattered, he stepped forward. He asked Pilate for Jesus’ body and placed it in his own new tomb.

Joseph reminds us that there comes a time when quiet faith must become courageous faith. Following Jesus cannot always remain private. There are moments when we must step forward and allow our actions to show where we stand.

As you begin today, ask yourself: How can I use what God has given me to honor Jesus? Look for an opportunity to turn your faith into action.

Prayer: Father, give me the courage to live openly and faithfully for Christ. Help me use my opportunities, abilities, and resources to honor You. When circumstances seem hopeless, remind me that You are still working and that victory belongs to Jesus. In His name, Amen.

Beginning Your Day

Matthew 27:51–56

“Surely he was the Son of God!” — Matthew 27:54 (NIV)

When Jesus died, extraordinary things happened. The curtain of the temple was torn from top to bottom, the earth shook, and the rocks split. Even the Roman centurion who witnessed these events declared, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

The torn curtain is especially meaningful. It symbolized that through the sacrifice of Jesus, the barrier caused by sin had been dealt with. His death opened the way for people to be reconciled to God.

The centurion saw what happened and came to a conclusion about Jesus. We have the testimony of Scripture before us. The question is: What will we do with what we know?

As you begin today, don’t simply recognize who Jesus is, live like you believe it. Let your words, decisions, worship, and service declare, “Surely He is the Son of God!”

Prayer: Father, thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus and the hope we have through Him. Help me not only to confess that Jesus is Your Son but to live every day under His lordship. May my life point others to Christ today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Beginning Your Day – Matthew 27:44–50

“And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.” Matthew 27:50 (NIV)

The final hours of Jesus on the cross were filled with darkness, suffering, and rejection. Yet even in His deepest agony, Jesus remained faithful to the Father’s will. He did not come down from the cross. He stayed until His work was finished.

The cross reminds us that our salvation came at an incredible price. Jesus willingly gave His life so that we could have forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life.

the death of Jesus is at the very heart of the gospel. His blood provides the forgiveness we could never provide for ourselves, and through obedient faith we come into contact with His saving death when we are baptized into Christ (Romans 6:3–4).

As you begin today, remember: Jesus did not quit when the road became painful. He remained faithful all the way to the cross. Let His faithfulness encourage you to remain faithful to Him, whatever this day may bring.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the sacrifice of Jesus and the blood He shed for my sins. Help me never take the cross for granted. Give me strength to remain faithful, obedient, and grateful each day. May my life honor the One who gave His life for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Matthew 27:32–44

“Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads.” Matthew 27:39 (NIV)

As Jesus hung on the cross, people mocked Him. The religious leaders challenged Him to save Himself, saying that if He truly was the Son of God, He should come down from the cross.

But Jesus did not come down, not because He couldn’t, but because He wouldn’t abandon His mission. Saving Himself would have meant abandoning the very purpose for which He came: to give His life for us.

Sometimes faithfulness means enduring difficulty rather than escaping it. Jesus remained on the cross because He was committed to doing the Father’s will and completing the work of redemption.

As you begin today, remember: Jesus could have come down from the cross, but He stayed because of His love for us. Let that love motivate you to remain faithful to Him, even when following Him is difficult.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Jesus and His willingness to endure the cross for my salvation. When following You becomes difficult, give me strength to remain faithful. May the sacrifice of Christ shape the way I live, love, and serve today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Matthew 27:27–31

“They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him.” Matthew 27:28

The soldiers mocked Jesus as a king. They placed a robe on Him, pressed a crown of thorns onto His head, bowed before Him in ridicule, and then led Him away to be crucified.

Yet there is a powerful irony in this scene: the One they mocked as King really was the King. Jesus endured humiliation and suffering without turning away from His mission. He accepted the shame of the cross because of His love for us.

As you begin today, remember: the world may have mocked His crown, but we gladly bow before our King. Live today in a way that honors Jesus as Lord.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Jesus and His willingness to endure humiliation and suffering for me. Give me courage never to be ashamed of Him. Help me honor Christ as my King through my words, choices, and actions today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
