Bethany Baptist Upward Sports Upward Sports is a ministry that combines skill development, competitive environment and values with God's word to young people.

Upward is a sports ministry for children Pre-K thru 6th Grade. Every Child Plays and Every Child is a Winner!! Upward Basketball and Upward Cheerleading offer a break from the norm. The primary focus of Upward is to develop the Winner in EVERY child, not just a few. By keeping this goal in mind, we are able to build a league that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in all who participat

e through:


*Sportsmanship and competitiveness in proper perspective by not maintaining league standings in any division.

*Maximizing the family schedule by having only one hour of practice and one game each week.


*Equipping coaches and referees to minister by providing extensive teaching tools and resources.

*Providing opportunities to promote other church ministries to all participants and their families.

*Allowing the coach to focus on ministering to children and their families, instead of game strategy, by having a set substitution system where all players are allowed equal playing time and equal opportunity for improvement.

*Encouraging each player with a gameday award following every game.

*Maximizing ministry opportunities by exposing players to Scripture-based devotions during each practice and spectators to halftime testimonies each gameday.

*Providing opportunities to see changed hearts and lives among children, family members, and volunteers who experience an Upward ministry.

*Building toward a harvest time at Awards Night where participants and parents are given an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.

UPWARD EVALUATIONS WILL BE HELD THIS WEEKEND, 10/20 & 10/21
ALL basketball & cheerleaders are required to drop in during one of the Upward Evaluations time slots listed below.
The evaluations will be held in the Lighthouse Building (Gym and Warehouse area - Come to the Children's Warehouse Desk when you arrive to check in) and will take approximately 30 min- 1 hour.

* Friday, October 20th - 6 PM to 8 PM
* Saturday, October 21st 9 AM to 1 PM

We are excited to announce that early registration for the 2023-2024 Upward season (for boys & girls in Pre-K4 to 6th grade)
will open to the public from September 24th - 30th.
Regular Registration is open from October 1st - October 21st.

IMPORTANT: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited. If teams in each division reach capacity, registration will be closed for that age group and you will be added to a waiting list. REGISTER EARLY!

Evaluations & Uniform Fitting are required and will be held on:
Friday, October 20th 6 -8 PM
Saturday, October 21st 9 AM- 1PM

Sunday, October 23rd, is the last day to register for the 2022-2023 season.

EVALUATIONS: DATES HAVE CHANGED
All participants should plan to attend one of the evaluations/uniform fittings to be held on the following dates:
Tuesday, November 1st 6 - 8 PM
Thursday, November 3rd 6 - 8 PM
Saturday, November 5th 9 - 12 PM

Have you registered for Upward Basketball & Cheer yet? Early registration is now open. The cost during early registration is $125. Early registration ends on Sunday! Late Registration will begin October 10th and the cost will be $135. Spots are filling up quickly so be sure to register soon.

We are excited to announce that early registration for the 2022-2023 Bethany Upward Basketball & Cheer season (for boys and girls in Pre-K4 to 6th grade) will begin on Sunday, September 25th. There are limited number of spots available, so be sure to register as early as possible for your child to participate.
IMPORTANT: Registration is on a first come, first served basis and space is limited in each age bracket. Registration will close, and we will start a waiting list, when individual teams in each age bracket reach capacity. REGISTER EARLY!
Volunteers and coaches are needed. If you are interested in participating, be sure to complete a volunteer application located on our website and Pastor Barry will contact you. www.4nbethany.org/upwardsports
