Heavenly and Gracious God, we come to you this morning, asking for your protection in light of the storms heading our way. God, we ask first for lives to be spared, as all life is precious to you and to us. We ask that you be with emergency personnel who are willingly putting their lives on the line to protect others, restore power, fix roads, and all other tasks to keep people as safe as possible. We ask that you be with the farmers who are now expecting to lose much of their crops and pray for provision for them in this time of need. Lord, in a country that has been so focused on how we are divided, I ask that you bring us all together in unity to serve one another in this time of need. Help us to be true neighbors. We pray for protection for our homes, businesses, schools, and churches, so damages sustained are at a minimum. We lift those who are experiencing homelessness right now and ask that doors will be opened for their safety during this time, God. They need a safe place to ride out the storm. Be with those who will be in charge of making decisions for their people and give them wisdom: guide them to the best solutions and put people with good discernment in their path to give counsel. In all things, we give you glory, knowing that you will still be with us as we face this storm, and trusting that you love us and will help us in our time of need. In the holy and precious name of your son we pray, amen.
