We sing the praises of Almighty God - Father, Son, and Holy, one God in three persons.

This central core of our theology defies our comprehension - but it shows us who God is and who God is forming us to be.

The Southeastern Synod ELCA's SES Leadership Academy has officially launched, and courses start this fall.

With a wide array of topics from some incredible pastors and lay leaders, these courses are carefully crafted to nurture our communal call into ministry and explore the ways God is calling, equipping, and reviving the Church for ministry today and in the future.

Divine Service for May 31st 2026, Feast of Pentecost

(A very sweaty) Greetings from way down yonder on the Chattahoochee and wonderful Columbus, GA.

Clergy and lay voting members from across Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia are gathered for the annual assembly of the Southeastern Synod to celebrate our call to ministry and prayerfully discern where we are being led in the coming year and beyond.

Pray for me and for our voting member, Kelly Glow, as well as the other Lutherans gathered this weekend.

"We worship one God in trinity and the Trinity in unity, neither confusing the persons nor dividing the divine being." - Athanasian Creed

The Holy Trinity is among the most confounding Christian doctrines: one God who exists in three persons. Our every attempt to explain it breaks down. Each year, the Church celebrates and contemplates this mystery on the first Sunday after Pentecost.

This week's image is the so-called "shield" of the Trinity, clarifying the interrelationship between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - that they are not roles or parts of God but distinct persons.

The texts for Holy Trinity:
-Genesis 1:1-2:4
-Psalm 8
-II Corinthians 13:11-13
-St. Matthew 28:16-20
