🙌A Memorial
✝️Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 7: 1-12

💡Big Idea: Faith arises when we remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness in the past

Mary, the mother of Jesus set up a memorial stone of sorts in her heart. After receiving the call from God to be the mother of Jesus, she dealt with the accusations of others and witnessed the amazing miracles surrounding Jesus’ birth. After Mary sees the star and the shepherds who came to worship Jesus, the Bible says in Luke 2:19, “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Another translation says, “but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.”

When we ponder and remember the goodness and faithfulness of God in the past, it gives us faith in the present. When we look back and say, “Thus far the Lord has helped us,” we can feel faith rise up in our hearts that the God who was faithful before, will come through again! Today, look back and set up memorials in your heart remembering God’s faithfulness. Take time to thank and praise Him for the times He rescued you, protected you, and provided for you. If you are going through a trial now, praise Him for His faithfulness in the past and feel faith rise up in your heart as your eyes lift from your circumstance to the greatness of God.

🙌A Position to Hear
✝️Scripture Reading:1 Samuel 3

💡Big Idea: We can position our lives to hear God’s voice more clearly.

💥How many times in our lives is God trying to speak to us yet we are too busy or distracted to hear? In today’s world, we are surrounded by NOISE! The noise of the internet and social media, the noise of school and responsibilities, and the noise of pressure and expectation from our peers. How can we position ourselves like Samuel to have ears that hear God’s voice and calling?

💥Approach God with Expectation: By the third time God called out to Samuel, you’ve got to believe that Samuel was on the edge of his seat in anticipation waiting for God’s voice. It can be easy in our time with God to make it part of our routine and not approach God with anticipation ready for Him to speak to us. Instead of checking a box, remove all distractions and start by asking God to help you have ears to hear and a heart to understand what He wants to say to you today.

💥Arrive Hungry: Verse 19 says an amazing statement about Samuel. It says, “The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.” That means that Samuel hung on every word God said to him and communicated it out throughout his life. The results was that, “all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord.” Too often we take for granted the Bible that sits in our room collecting dust. God’s word is present, already written and available in every situation we walk through. Be hungry for the Word of God being like Samuel not wasting one single word.

🙌Giving Things Back to God
✝️Scripture Reading: Read 1 Samuel 1:21-2:2

💡Big Idea: Every day we give these blessings back to God.

❤️‍🔥After years of praying, Hannah receives the son she has always desired and instead of keeping him for herself, she says, “now I give him to the Lord.” What a beautiful example of the great exchange that happens every day in the Christian’s life. As we live for God, we receive from Him and then we give back. We receive and we give again. Day after day, the great exchange continues.

🌟It starts at the time of salvation. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. When we receive His gift of salvation and accept the forgiveness of sins by grace, we surrender our lives to Him. The great exchange continues as God blesses us with things like talents, material blessings, and relationships. Instead of hoarding them for ourselves, we open our hands presenting everything back to Him for Him to use for His glory.

🔥This great exchange is a life of thankfulness and surrender. True fulfillment, contentment and purpose exist in giving God access and permission to every aspect of our life. Hannah said in chapter 2:2 after receiving the baby she wanted her whole life, “There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you.”

🌟What’s amazing is, Hannah’s story didn’t end here. We see in 1 Samuel 2:21, “And the Lord was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters.” God’s blessings continued to follow Hannah as she continued to live faithfully for Him. As we live for Him faithfully, we will say like David in Psalms 23:6, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

🙌You Are Heard
✝️Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 1:1-20

💡Big Idea: God hears the desires of our hearts

🤩Do you ever wonder if your worries or prayers are important enough to mention to God? I remember when I was in High School, I had given my life to God and knew God was asking me to walk away from some friendships. I felt super alone and wondered if praying for a Christian friend was too small an ask for the God of heaven. Hannah was a woman of little standing…the second wife of a man that we know nothing about. Her heart’s desire was simply to have a baby.

🥸Hannah went to the temple to bring her heart’s desire to God and it says, “In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly” and “was pouring out my soul to the Lord.” She says to the priest Eli, “I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.”

🔥Sometimes our prayers are so small in the scope of eternity yet so deeply personal to us. But what’s incredible about God is He rules the universe with His mighty hand, yet cares about every detail in your life. In Isaiah 65:24, God says, “Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.” Before they call…what a powerful statement. It says in verse 18 that once Hannah had finished pouring out her heart’s desire to God, that, “her face was no longer downcast.” What had changed? Her arms weren’t holding a baby yet. I believe it is because she knew she was heard by God.

🙇You are so very loved and precious to God! God heard Hannah’s prayer for a baby and my prayer for a Christian friend. As you pour out your heart to Him, just like Hannah, peace and contentment will come knowing God hears you. So bring Him your deepest unspoken fears and hopes today trusting that He loves you more than we can ever comprehend!

🙌So Much Pressure
✝️Scripture Reading: Psalm 139: 1-18

💡Big Idea: God is With You and God is For You!

🔥When you work with teens you get to watch them navigate relationships, try out for sports and activities, make or not make the grade, apply for college, and the list just keeps on going.

🔥The common thread I see is PRESSURE. Pressure on every side. Pressure from their parents. Pressure from their peers. Pressure from their coaches. Pressure from their own expectations. Will they measure up? Will they get picked? Will they be noticed? Will they be ridiculed? Will they matter?

👋Oh how I wish I could adequately express God’s heart for you today. Read these verses from Psalms 139 over and over and let them wash over you and overtake your heart.

💪Remember these truths:

God sees YOU!

God knows YOU!

God formed YOU!

God hears YOU!

God is with YOU!

God is for YOU!

God delights in YOU!

God has plans for YOU!

💥These truths above are not dependent on your performance or if you get the grade, the date, the outcome, or the touchdown. Rest in Him today and feel released from the pressures you carry. You are loved!
