Happy Thanksgiving to all our family here in McCook! Concentrate today on sharing His love with those in need. Doesn't have to be a big event - a kind word or encouraging pat on the back is so often ALL that person needs.

Well, it's been a very long and painful week (honestly speaking). But through it all I have been comforted by the Lord Jesus through the fervent prayers going up from many churches and friends and family. After being in Intensive Care since Wednesday, I have been moved down to a regular ward where I was checked in by a nurse educator I had met during my July visit. She asked how our church was going and said she would be praying for us, so I have been lifted up through this hospital. Isn't God good ALL THE TIME? Keep up the prayers and I will look forward to seeing you all very soon.

I have been struggling a lot lately about my health, loss of strength and energy. At one point while sitting in the darkened living room, I realized that God doesn't have to explain things or ask our "permission" for events in our lives. It is up to Him to guide us to a deep relationship with Him, His Son, His Holy Spirit, and the whole body of Christ. It is our responsibility to simply trust and believe in His love.
I find that I use the song "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" to pick me up "one more time." By the time I finish these verses, I am ready to go again.

Just this week Pastor Walt and I had an opportunity to help a family in need. Two things grabbed my attention: the father was ashamed and apologized for asking for help and, we were blessed for giving.
Giving is a command from Jesus to do the right thing. And, don't forget that He said "They will know we are Christians by our love.

Well, we have "survived" another week! Let's all take a few minutes and look at that week. Are you closer to Him than you were the previous week? Have you shared His love with someone you encountered? Have you spent time in the Scriptures and in personal Prayer? Based on your attitude and actions, would others see Jesus in you? Last week is gone but you have another week of opportunities - don't waste it.

I found myself this week trying to explain a daily life of choices to a friend who is having a "rough" time. Not every choice is life-changing but life does change when we follow God through both the "big" and "little" decisions. Proverbs 3:5-6 sums it up "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
Learn to choose your paths based on total trust in God!

If you find yourself in a "real pickle " that you don't know what to do or say, how do you survive? When the Jews were running from the Egyptians, they went to Moses and complained that God had brought them out of Egypt only to let them die in the wilderness. Then they continued their "pity party." Moses chose to ask for help from God Almighty and then leave it to Him to handle. God answered by parting the sea (powerful miracle). But God could have just led them to a bridge to cross over (still a miracle). Remember that God can rescue us in any way He chooses. Parting the sea was awesome, but a simple bridge would have produced the same rescue.

Watching all the memorials to those who died on 9/11 remembering where I was, what I was doing, and feeling the disbelief that led to such feelings of grief when it all sank in. Then the days that followed when we were ALL just Americans filled with pride and determination. Isaiah tells us that "they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength and mount up like eagles." We must NEVER forget but we also must turn to Him as "one nation under God."
