"Forgetting Our Thanks"
Luke 17:11-19

We look at another story given to us in scriptures. Luke 17:11-19 gives us the story of 10 l***rs who were cleansed.
Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem in this account. Jesus was on an alternate route because the Samaritan people did not allow free passage to the Jews through their territory.
Scripture tells us that these 10 l***rs cried out to Christ and asked for His mercy.
Jesus told them to go unto the priest. As they did, they were cleansed.
Look at the story. The l***rs played by the rules. They stood at a distance according to Leviticus 13:45. They did what was required of them when it came to being around people.
Jesus told them to go to the priests. They were given an opportunity to exercise their faith. They obeyed and were cleansed.
Here is the message. They obeyed God's command and were cleansed, but they still had a problem. The last couple of verses tells us this...they (all but one) forgot to give thanks. Only one l***r came back to Christ and glorified Him. What happened to the other nine? Who was the one that returned? A Samaritan. Remember the indifferences with the Jews and Samaritan people, but yet a Samaritan returned thanks for healing.
How are we in returning thanks to God when we receive something from Him? Do we give our thanks or do we act like the other nine and forget where all things come from?
God is our help and refuge in times of need and trouble. Psalm 121 tells us where our help comes from.
God has done many things for us...have we returned our thanks to Him for doing so?

"God Never Leaves"
Genesis 4:16-26

We don't really know what happened to Adam and Eve in the years after the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. One thing we know is that life continued. God told them to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth and subdue it.
Unfortunately, as life continues, so does the bad. Sin has never left. It is still present after all these years. We read about it in scripture.
We also know that the good remains. What good? The simple fact that we know that no matter what happens in this world, God has remained and that the forces of evil will never defeat God's plan.
We know that the Lord has patience. At times our patience is a little thin. At times we have none.
Back in Noah's time, God gave the people many years as Noah built the Ark to repent. We see in today's world all the craziness going on and wonder when is it going to end? When is God going to say "Enough" and we see the end? What is God waiting for? Could it be like in Noah's time, giving His creation time to repent?
God never leaves us. It tells us that..."I will never leave nor forsake you".
The time is coming that we will see God. We will give accountability to Him.
One thing to remember is simply this...Our time on earth is growing short. No matter what lies in front of us, God never leaves.
He will always be there.

"Who Is In Control"
Genesis 6:15-18

We look at the simple question, who is in control of your life?
We looked at our scripture and it gives us details on God's instructions to Noah on how to build the Ark.
Everything is very descriptive in the build. What kind of wood, how high, how wide, how tall, how many stories, a door in the side, a window, etc.
As Noah built this vessel, and we read the scriptures, what is missing from this build?
Noah built this massive vessel to survive a global storm with no steering mechanism. No sail, no steering wheel, or rudder. He was at the mercy of the water.
Noah, however, was a man of faith. He didn't need to steer, because God was in control of everything. Noah here was in fact a passenger, not the captain.
The Ark was built to float and survive which is exactly what it did. God took care of everything else.
When we encounter life's storms, who do we place in control? Do we try to be the captain and do things our way? Do we give God control and become a passenger and allow our faith and trust in Him to guide us?
Noah didn't need to steer because God knew where it was to go. Give God control of your life and see where He leads you.

"Share God's Purpose"
Matthew 6:10-13

This morning we shared a few verses from The Lord's Prayer.
We look at purpose. The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
The Lord's Prayer gives us God's purpose. We live first in His care and then in His nature.
We know temptations face us every day. We need God's help to avoid temptation and to escape the evil of the world. How do we face temptation? Do we try to go thru it alone?
God's purpose is to get us to come to Him for forgiveness of our wrong doings. This was already accomplished thru His Son being born and eventually giving His life on the cross. God's purpose is to have all come to Him. Unfortunately, not all will accept this invite and miss out what God has for us after this earthly life.
God's purpose is peace and life, everlasting life. Only He can give these things.
Are we sharing God's purpose? Are we sharing His word with others? Are we showing and sharing God's love?
How often? On Sundays in church? When it's convenient for us?
When we accepted Christ we also accepted to follow and obey Him. And part of that is to share God's Purpose...
Share with others today, tomorrow, and always.

"Our Road Map"
Joshua 1:1-9

This morning we looked at a few different things we use when traveling. We used to have paper roadmaps, upgraded to an atlas, and now we have cars equipped with GPS installed.
We use/used these things to get us to a destination. Maybe a vacation trip or going to a new place. We needed directions to get there.
What about the Bible? Can we consider it a road map? Not necessarily one to get to an earthly destination, but it will guide us and give us direction on how to reach our next destination when we pass, our eternity.
If we don't follow the map, do we get lost at times? If we don't keep up with our Bible study/reading, do we get lost spiritually? Either way, when we do get lost, both things can get us back on the right track.
Our paper maps will get us to earthly destinations, but the most important destination is the one that God has prepared for us. The Bible will get us there.
Read the Bible regularly.
Read it subjectively.
Read it intelligently.
Read it systematically.
Read it prayerfully.
Read it to be obedient.
The Bible gives us everything we need to learn to follow God and look forward to living in His Kingdom eternally.
Are you following God's roadmap??

"If It Is Listed"
Acts 4:23-31

People today do buy/sell from many platforms. We have social media, weekly papers, and different places on the Internet that we can look at for buying or selling.
We may buy right away or maybe wait and see if possibly the price will drop. When we do that, sometimes we miss out on the deal because we hesitated or waited too long.
One possible item that may not be searched is salvation. People may not be interested or just don't want bothered with it.
Salvation is a free gift that is offered to anyone who is willing to humble themselves and come to Christ.
Our salvation has already been paid for by the blood of Christ. It is available now and it will be available tomorrow, if tomorrow comes. This is one thing that we shouldn't hesitate or wait on purchasing.
When the item is sold, the listing is taken down. The salvation listing will always be listed because it is always available. We never have to worry about missing this item. We do, however, have to worry about our eternity. Where will we spend it?
Salvation is a gift from God, a free gift from Him, but it came at a huge price. It cost the life of His Son, Jesus Christ. This was God's plan of salvation for the world.
Search for salvation, the listing is there. Humble yourself and go to Christ for His redeeming mercy and grace. He will forgive and grant you eternal salvation in the most beautiful place you have yet to see.
Salvation is a free gift that will last into eternity, unlike the things of this world.
Seek His face...

"Respond with Forgiveness"
Matthew 18:21-35

How do you react when mistreated, wronged, or encounter a life changing event? Is it hard to demonstrate the mind of Christ? Do you respond with anger, hostility, bitterness, and some plan their revenge.
We all experience mistreatment from others. How do we respond and handle it?
Our Lord forbids retaliation. We are to avoid being vindictive and revengeful. He places on us the gift of forgiveness to those who mistreat us.
We find it hard at times to be forgiving, because our human impulse is to retaliate.
We are to give the gift of forgiveness because we have received the gift of forgiveness.
When we pray The Lord's Prayer, we are asking God to forgive us as we forgive others. If we cannot forgive others, how can we pray that prayer asking for God's forgiveness upon us?
A forgiving spirit will bring healing to the injured spirit.
It is hard to forgive when wronged by someone. But remember what Christ prayed as He was wronged and went to the Cross for you and me.
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
