REFLECTING THE FATHER’S PEACE

Jesus says, “‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God,’” (Matthew 5:9, NASB). These words invite us to rest in a beautiful truth: peacemakers are not striving to earn a place in God’s family; they are reflecting the heart of the Father who has already called them His own. As His beloved children, we are invited to walk with Him in the ministry of redemption – first receiving His peace in our own hearts, then carrying that peace gently into the places and relationships around us.

For some, calling God “Father” feels safe and deeply comforting. For others, that word may touch tender places shaped by disappointment, absence, or pain. If that is true for you, Scripture does not rush past those wounds. Instead, it patiently shows us the Father as He truly is: holy and kind, compassionate and faithful, near to the brokenhearted, and steady in love. He is not limited by the failures of earthly fathers; He reveals Himself as the One who welcomes His children home.

Take a quiet moment to ask: How am I relating to God as my heavenly Father today?

If knowing the Father is essential to our calling as peacemakers, then we are invited to come near without fear. What may be standing between your heart and the Father today? You can bring it to Him honestly. You do not have to clean it up first. Receive His grace, listen for His gentle leading, and ask Him to shape you into a person who carries His peace with humility, courage, and love.

THE LORD MEETS US IN THE VALLEY

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight,” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NASB).

Hard times often uncover what is taking place within our hearts. Two people may walk through the same trial, yet respond in very different ways. One may be drawn nearer to the Lord and find faith deepened, while another may feel burdened by worry and begin to struggle with questions about His faithfulness. In seasons like these, the Lord lovingly invites us to bring our hearts to Him.

Hardship is part of life, even for those who love and follow Christ. Yet we do not face it without hope. Our comfort rests in the sovereign care of God, knowing that nothing touches our lives apart from His loving permission. David’s life gives us a tender reminder of this truth. The Lord allowed a murderous king to pursue him for years, yet David continued to seek refuge in God, calling Him his stronghold and safe place.

When we allow the Lord to meet us in our trials, He can strengthen our faith, quiet our fears, soften our hearts, and teach us to care for others with greater tenderness. In every affliction, He is near and ready to help. We may come to Him as children coming to a faithful Father, asking for comfort, wisdom, and strength; or we may allow bitterness to take root when He does not lead us out of the valley as quickly as we hoped.

When affliction strips away every earthly support, the Lord gently calls us to lean more fully on Him. Such seasons can feel heavy, but they are never wasted in His hands. Some are crushed beneath the weight of suffering, but others, upheld by His grace, are shaped into steady, faithful believers who know Him more deeply.

LIVING FOR CHRIST IN EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again,” (Philippians 1:21-26, NASB).

Have you ever looked at your circumstances and wondered how the Lord could possibly bring good from them? What benefit could come from illness, unemployment, family brokenness, or seasons of deep difficulty? Though we may not always understand what God is doing, we can rest in this truth: He is able to use every situation for His glorious purposes when we choose to trust Him.

Paul’s imprisonment may have appeared to be the end of his ministry opportunities, but God used it to advance the gospel. The apostle was able to bear witness to the Roman guards, and his confinement encouraged others to proclaim Christ with greater boldness – even when their motives were not pure. Facing the possibility of death, Paul understood that whether through his continued life or his departure to be with Christ, he had another opportunity to glorify the Lord.

Paul’s response reminds us that it is possible, in every circumstance, to live in a way that exalts Jesus Christ. The same Holy Spirit who strengthened the apostle is present to strengthen every willing believer today. When we learn to view life through God’s perspective, hardship becomes an invitation to trust His goodness, depend fully on His grace, and respond in a way that honors and magnifies Christ.
