our greatest desire is to be able to place the heart of God into the hearts of people. General Information
In 1827 a group led by an African-American slave, Job, started a new church in the McCalla area called Roupes Valley Baptist Church of Christ. The first building burnt down in 1840 leading the members to construct a second building that served as both a church and community school until it wa

s joined with McAdory School in the 1930s. After moving to a new facility in 1940s, the church was renamed Bucksville Baptist Church (1949). The church expanded adding a new sanctuary in 1967 a Family Lif Center (FLC) in 1993. This church has a unique history and has undergone many changes including changing its name again to Tannehill Valley Baptist Church. The Lord continually blesses this Church and allowed it to relocate to a new and larger facility in February of 2002. Our facilities now include a worship center able to accommodate 1,000 people, a multi-purpose FLC (built in 2006) that includes a gymnasium, workout room, walking tract, Fireside room, Student worship room and several classrooms. Tannehill Valley has a wonderful past, a joy in the present, and a vision for the future.

Our readings this week dealt largely with attitudes of submission and honor from the workplace to home life. Let’s review.

1 Peter 2:18-25

According to Peter, what kind of attitude should Christian servants (or employees) have towards their masters (or employers), even if they are unjust? What is the spiritual reward for enduring such mistreatment? (1 Peter 2:18-20)

How does Peter use the example of Jesus Christ to instruct believers on how to suffer righteously? Identify at least two specific ways Jesus responded to suffering that we are called to imitate. (1 Peter 2:21-23)

1 Peter 3

What specific instruction does Peter give to wives regarding their conduct, particularly in relation to unbelieving husbands? What is the desired outcome of this conduct? (1 Peter 3:1-2)

According to Peter, what is the "imperishable beauty" that God truly values in a woman, and how does it contrast with outward adornment? (1 Peter 3:3-4)

What responsibilities does Peter outline for husbands towards their wives, and what is the consequence of failing to fulfill these responsibilities? (1 Peter 3:7)

List at least three specific commands Peter gives to all believers regarding how they should relate to one another (1 Peter 3:8-9). What promises are made to those who follow these commands?

In 1 Peter 3:15, believers are commanded to always be prepared to give an answer for the hope they have. How are they instructed to do this?
How does Peter use Christ's suffering and triumph in 1 Peter 3:18-22 to provide encouragement and a foundation for the suffering of believers?

Reflective Question

Both 1 Peter 2:18-25 and 1 Peter 3 emphasize Christ's suffering and call believers to respond to various difficult situations (unjust masters, unbelieving spouses, general hostility) with a Christ-like attitude. Considering the overall message, what is one practical step you can take this week to live out Christ's example of suffering righteously and maintaining hope, no matter your circumstances? (1 Peter 2:21; 3:14-15)

There has never been a death like the death of Jesus Christ.

This Sunday at Tannehill Valley Baptist Church, we continue our series:
“Who Is Jesus?” “The One Crucified For Sinners”

Join us as we walk through the powerful events of John 19 and discover what the cross truly reveals:

• The seriousness of sin
• The holiness of God
• The incredible love of Jesus Christ
• The reality of salvation through Him alone

The cross was not an accident.
It was not defeat.
It was the very reason Jesus came.

Come worship with us Sunday at 10:00am as we gather to remember, reflect, and celebrate the Savior who willingly gave His life for us.

1 Peter 1:22-2:17 - These passages emphasize that believers, having been born again through God's living Word, are called to a life of fervent, sincere love for one another. They are to eagerly desire spiritual growth, understanding their identity as living stones in God's spiritual house and as a chosen people declaring His praises. Finally, believers are instructed to live honorably among others and submit to governing authorities, demonstrating good conduct to silence critics and glorify God.

(1 Peter 1:22-23) According to Peter, what is the source of genuine, fervent love for one another, and what does it mean to be "born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God"?

(1 Peter 2:1) What specific attitudes and behaviors are believers instructed to lay aside as they grow in their faith, and why is this important for spiritual growth?

(1 Peter 2:2-3) What spiritual "food" are believers encouraged to desire, and for what purpose should they desire it?

(1 Peter 2:4-5) How does Peter describe Jesus Christ, and how does he describe believers in relation to Christ and the spiritual house being built?

(1 Peter 2:9-10) What five titles does Peter use to describe believers, and what do these titles signify about their new identity and purpose in God's plan?

(1 Peter 2:13-17) What is the main instruction Peter gives regarding submission to governing authorities, and what are the reasons provided for this submission? Why is this at times so difficult?

(1 Peter 1:22-2:17) Reflecting on these passages, how does Peter's teaching challenge or encourage your understanding of what it means to live as a devoted follower of Christ in a world that may not understand or accept your faith?

1 Peter will prove to be a wonderful read. We covered verses 1-21. Let’s review with a few questions.

(1 Peter 1:1-2) Peter identifies believers as "temporary residents." What does this communicate about our standing as believers in this world?

(1 Peter 1:3-5) Describe the inheritance that believers have and its characteristics. What secures this inheritance, and by what power are believers guarded for it?

(1 Peter 1:7-9) What is the ultimate outcome and reward for faith that has been tested by fire, even if unseen?

(1 Peter 1:10-12) What specific aspects of salvation did the prophets intensely search for, and what insight was revealed to them about their own ministry?

(1 Peter 1:14-16) How does Peter contrast the former way of life (ignorance) with the new way of life that reflects God's holiness? What is the basis for this call to holiness?

(1 Peter 1:18-21) In what way is the redemption of believers described as precious, and how does this redemption connect to their faith and hope in God?

Reflective Question: Considering that God has called you to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16), and knowing that you have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18-19), in what specific area of your life can you intentionally seek to put aside former desires and live more in accordance with God's holy character this week?
