Mark gave us the privilege of sharing some of his last words of encouragement and wisdom with you all…
“Things I Have Learned Since I Was Terminal
Jesus is enough
Jesus, His death and resurrection, are enough for me and my justification. I don’t need anything else - my good works, the works and prayers of the saints, purgatory, indulgences - nothing. Jesus is enough. God is faithful.
I try to justify myself
I don’t mean to, but I try to justify myself before God - my rules, my music, my politics, my Bible translation, my smartphone, computer and car. I use these preferences to
justify myself before God. I think I am so spiritual. I am not. God is faithful.
I need the Trinity
God loved me and made a way for me to be saved. Jesus loved the Father and always did His will. Jesus loved the Father all the way to the cross. Jesus loved me too. The Holy Spirit loves me. He opened my eyes so that I would see and believe in Jesus. I am so thankful that God saved me! Sometimes I am so overwhelmed: God, through Christ, saved someone like me! God is faithful.
For every one look at self take 10 looks at Christ
When I look at myself I see so much sin and death. When I look at Christ I see righteousness and life. I must spend more time looking at Christ! God is faithful.
My wife, Julie, is the greatest person, next to God, for being in my life
Julie is amazing! She helped bring me out of legalism. She has been so patient with me. As a husband, a parent, a pastor, and retired, she has been so patient with me. With me being sick, she has been so patient and kind. She has been good to me and good for me. She is smart - smarter than I will ever be. She is capable. She is confident. She makes me a better person. I love her! God is faithful.
I am so proud of my kids
All of my kids are so much further in the faith than I was at their age. They are so persistent, so faithful. I am proud of them for school - at Wisconsin Heights and Cedarville. God is faithful.
