We had a great PTMAN community meeting Saturday. Hosted by district 88.

Dist. 88 Superintendent Dr Victoria Stockton was our keynote speaker.

I must say, she masterfully articulated the principles of the theme: “How to Overcome Community Anxiety About Summer Safety!”

She provided us with solid advice for coping with the anxiety of summer safety for our youth.

District 88, you guys have a solid leader in Dr.Stockton.

Thank you Dr. Stockton. The best is yet to come!!

Service Above Self. Community Above Self.

Yesterday, PTMAN & Interfaith Illinois Chairman Bishop Dr. Reginald J. Saffo, Ph.D. delivered the Invocation and a powerful Juneteenth Reflection during the Officer Swearing-In Ceremony of the Maywood-Proviso Rotary Club at Rotary International Headquarters.

In recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to community service, Bishop Saffo was presented with the prestigious Rotary Vocational Service Award. This distinguished honor is awarded to individuals who exemplify the highest ethical standards in their profession and intentionally use their vocational gifts, talents, and influence to improve the lives of others.

The award reflects Rotary’s commitment to the principles of the Four-Way Test and its enduring motto, “Service Above Self.”

As Chairman of PTMAN and Interfaith Illinois, Bishop Saffo continues to build bridges across faith communities, civic organizations, educational institutions, and community stakeholders—demonstrating that true leadership is measured not only by position, but by service.

Congratulations, Bishop Saffo, on this well-deserved recognition and for your continued dedication to advancing hope, unity, and community transformation throughout our region.

Breaking the Cycle: A Fireside Chat on the State of Poverty in Chicago

Hosted at The Chicago Club in partnership with Concordia University, the Illinois Policy Institute’s Center for Poverty Solutions, and True Charity—bringing together leaders committed to rethinking poverty through dignity, faith, and empowerment.

Pictured: James Whitford (Executive Director, Watered Gardens & True Charity; author of The Crisis of Dependency), Bishop Dr. Reginald J. Saffo (Chairman, PTMAN & Interfaith Illinois), and Dr. Eddie Kornegay (Executive Director, Center for Poverty Solutions, Illinois Policy Institute).

From addressing the “benefits cliff” to advancing grassroots, faith-driven solutions, the focus was clear: move beyond charity that sustains—and build systems that empower people to flourish. Professor Rachel Ferguson Director of the Free Enterprise Center at Concordia University Chicago led the discussion and moderated.

“Those closest to the problem are closest to the solution.” The work continues.
