Obituary
Anne Lura Wright, 94, passed away peacefully at Lafayette Healthcare in Mayo, FL on June 7, 2026. Anne was the daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle Mixon, and was born in Carbur, FL on February 20, 1932. She was married to William T. "Bill" Wright in July of 1950 and had 64 Β½ wonderful loving years together before his passing in 2014.

Anne is preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Dobie Wright; her grandson, Will Wright; her daughter-in-law-, Connie Wright; her parents, Claude and Myrtle Mixon; her brothers, Carrol, Earl, Louie, and Daryl Mixon; and her sister, Mary Alice Mixon.

Anne is survived by two sons, Wayne and Kathy Wright of Tallahassee, and Danny and Angie Wright of Perry; one daughter, Angie and Robert McCray of Mayo; nine grandchildren, Daniel Wright of Adel, GA, Vanessa and Greg Wray of Perry, Renee and Brandon Fierro of Perry, Jonathan Wright, Patricia Wright of Perry, Geoffrey and Chelsea Wright of Garden City, MI, James "Jimi" Wright of Gainesville, and Hannah McCray of Mayo; and six great-grandchildren, Layla Wright and Derek Burns of Crawfordville, Elijah Wright of Crawfordville, Kayden Wright of Crawfordville, Connor Fierro of Perry, Atlas Wray of Perry, and Blake Fierro of Perry. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends who lobed her very much.

She grew up and graduated the 10th grade from Foley School in Foley, FL, then went on to attend Taylor County High School and graduated in the class of 1950. Anne was a dedicated Christian and a member of Ash Street Church of Christ in Perry, where she taught Sunday School, worked VBS, and helped in any way she could. She worked in the Taylor County School System for 29 years as a Math Aide at Gladys Morse Elementary, Library Aide at Perry Primary, and finally ran the library at Perry Elementary until her retirement in 2001. She touched many children's lives and loved her time working with them. The one thing she enjoyed most was time spent together with her family.

Our family would like to express our love and gratitude to all of the staff at Oakridge Assisted Living in Mayo where she called home for the last 7 years. She loved all of you and was loved and wonderfully cared for by you. We are also grateful for the wonderful and loving care given to her in the last week and a half at Lafayette Healthcare.

Anne's funeral services will be held at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 11:00AM with Bro. Theyo Elam officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. A graveside service will be held immediately afterwards at Woodlawn Cemetery.

All services are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.

β€œCommit to the Lord whatever you do and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3
Such a beautiful day celebrating Sister Debbie Shows Retirement ❀️ Hearing how she's worked so hard for over 62 years, kept her home, raising a great family , working hard whether part time or full time, and always being a faithful servant & example to everyone in her life as she marched through each season.
What a great speech by her daughter DeeDee too !!!
We pray many blessings ahead for sister Debbie as she transitions into this next chapter of life -Retirement- and that she Enjoys the Fruit of her labors β°οΈπŸŽ‰β°οΈπŸ™Œ
