Miller's Chapel

Miller's Chapel This is a sweet fellowship of Christians who love the Lord and love each other. We invite you to join us in worshipping God each Sunday morning at 11am.

Millers Chapel has been worshiping God and serving our community for over 200 years! We are in the third location/building which we have been in since 1967. We practice the Methodist tradition in our worship service, following the lectionary calendar with a traditional worship service. Every Sunday communion will be offered. We have an open table and welcome all who earnestly seek to follow Christ

to His table. We embrace the motto: Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. We live it out in the following ways:
1. Open Hearts - Jesus tells us all of the laws and prophets are built on two principles: Love of God, and loving neighbor as our selves. We strive to love each other by encouraging and supporting other members, and being proactive to show love to all in our community.
2. Open Minds - We seek to be in open fellowship with all people of good will, who seek to come to know God. We understand we will not all understand the scriptures or practice worship exactly the same, but do not want to allow our different understandings to become a source of division, but an opportunity to share different perspectives. Our fellowship has and should always include members of our community who choose to participate in Sunday school and worship who are not members of the Methodist church, and that is ok!
3. Open Doors - All are welcome! There is no litmus test at the door to decide who can enter our worship service or our fellowship. We are all sinners who have fallen short of God's glory, so we do not discriminate against anyone who wants to grow in their relationship with God. As a visitor, you can expect a warm welcome from our small congregation. Each week a bulletin is prepared with a detailed outline of the worship service so that everyone can easily know what to expect to be able to fully participate in the service.

The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. (Psalm 24:1)

One of the coolest pictures I've seen this week was the shot of Earth from the Artemis II mission. The sun is actually behind the earth in this photo, but the moonlight has lit up the backside just enough to get a picture. You can see the Saharan desert in Africa along with the city lights along Egypt, Europe, and even South America. It is such a really neat picture. We continue to pray for the four astronauts on their mission as they travel behind the moon later today.

The Bible tells us that the Earth, yes the one in that picture, was created by the God. (Genesis 1:1) The entire world and everything within it belongs to Him (Psalm 24:1). And indeed He is the Lord over all of the heavens and the earth (Acts 17:24).

He is Creator, Owner, and Lord. But most importantly, the Bible also tells us that He loves the world. His love was so deep that He sent His only Son to come to the earth, so that we can believe on Him and have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

When we take a step back and look at the earth, we are looking at what the Lord loves. Every human being that has ever lived has lived on this planet, and that is whom Christ died for. You'll never meet another person who hasn't lived on earth. And you will never look into the eyes of someone that is not precious to Him.

So while this is a really cool image, it would be a tragedy to miss the Lord in this. With every advancement in human technology, it is a new opportunity to give Him praise and honor. With the invention of the printing press, we could print and distribute the Word. With the invention of planes, we could send missionaries to far away places with the gospel. With the invention of the internet and social media, we can share and encourage believers everywhere with God's promises. And with the invention of rockets, space missions, and cameras we can sit back and worship His majesty. Whatever humans come up with next, the Lord will be there ahead of us.

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (Psalm 19:1)

What happened on Resurrection Day?

After the completion of Passion Week comes the greatest day of them all: the day Jesus victoriously rose from the dead!

Early in the morning, the women went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus with their spices and perfumes. However, there was a large earthquake and the stone is rolled away by an angel. The guards are terrified and fall over like dead men. The angel tells the women to go tell the disciples that Jesus is risen.

Jesus appeared to many people that day, including 500 people at the same time. He appeared to Mary Magdalene, Peter and the disciples, along with His brother James and others. He even shows them His hands and His side to prove that He has risen from the dead. Even doubting Thomas falls on his knees and says "My Lord and my God" when seeing this evidence.

Now that Jesus has risen from the dead, we can have salvation in His name. Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, and He rose from the dead so that we can live again with Him. As Jesus proclaimed: "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall He live."

The Lord is risen, indeed!

He is not here.

The place that once held death
now holds nothing.

The stone was real
The grave was sealed
The silence felt final

Everything said
it was over

But heaven had already decided
this was not the end

“He is not here,
for He is risen,
just as He said.”

Not almost
Not symbolically
Not eventually

He rose

Which means—

Death doesn’t win
Grief doesn’t have the final word
And what feels buried in your life
is not beyond resurrection

The tomb is empty
so your hope doesn’t have to be

Come and see
