What do we do with an invitation we have already received? In Matthew 22, Jesus tells the parable of a king who prepares a lavish wedding feast for his son, sends out servants to gather the invited guests, and is met with indifference, distraction, and even outright hostility. The spiritual weight of this parable lands squarely on us. We live in a world full of farms and businesses, full of ordinary responsibilities that quietly become our reasons for saying 'later' to God. The parable forces us to ask an honest question: have we been carrying the invitation all along without ever walking through the door? The story does not stop with rejection. The king throws open the feast to everyone, the good and the bad alike, which means our past does not disqualify us and our reputation does not earn us a seat. Grace is wider than we tend to believe. But the parable also warns us that being present in the banquet hall is not the same as being properly clothed for it. There is a difference between familiarity with God and genuine surrender to him. This message calls us to examine where we have grown comfortable around the things of God while quietly resisting God himself, and to consider what our daily lives are actually saying in response to his invitation.
