It is with both sorrow and gratitude that we share the passing of one of our beloved alumni, Cecil Clark, Class of 1982.
Cecil held the unique distinction of being part of the Manahath basketball team, a special chapter in the history of our school experienced by only a small number of students. More importantly, however, he was known and loved for his faithful Christian testimony, his kindness, and a life devoted to serving the Lord.
Posts such as these are never easy for us to write. Our hearts grieve alongside the family and friends who mourn the loss of someone so dearly loved. Yet even in sorrow, we rejoice in the legacy of alumni who have remained faithful through the years — students who stood the test of time in ministry, serving Christ wholeheartedly long after graduation. Cecil was one of those faithful servants.
We are reminded of Hebrews 12:1:“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight… and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
The words of the old hymn also come to mind:
“Am I a soldier of the cross, A follower of the Lamb?”
Cecil lived as a man unashamed of the Gospel and faithful to the Lord to the very end.
Many of us also remember special services through the years when Cecil returned to speak on campus, encouraging students and reminding us all of eternal truths. One statement he shared from Dr. Mundell remains especially meaningful today: “Every person who comes into your life at any given moment is being used by the Holy Spirit to shape your life into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
We thank the Lord for Cecil Clark — for a life well lived, for years faithfully invested in ministry, and for a testimony that glorified the Savior he loved and served. Please continue to pray for the Clark family during this time of sorrow.
