I planned to continue posting about the pieces of spiritual armor, then my sweet hubby went into the hospital. Now he's home and doing much better, but in light of that situation, God has put it on my heart to talk to you about the garment of praise.
It can be so hard to offer praise or gratitude when you're going through a storm and everything in you feels like it’s dragging through concrete. Not exactly a “throw on a smile and sing louder” kind of season... but like… breathe, survive, repeat.
Isaiah 61:3 tells us to put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. A garment isn’t a feeling- it’s something you put on, whether you feel like it or not- because you need it.
There’s a kind of heaviness that doesn’t just sit on your shoulders… it settles into your bones. The kind that shows up in hospital rooms, in unanswered questions, and in the quiet moments when your mind won’t stop running worst-case scenarios. To be honest… praise is the last thing that feels natural there.
However, God never said praise was a reaction- He called it a garment- something you choose to put on, even when your hands are shaking... even when your heart is tired... and even when you don’t understand what He’s doing. It isn’t about pretending everything is okay, it’s about declaring that He still is in control.
So today, my praise might sound different. It might be quiet... it might be broken... it might just be, “God, I trust You… even here.” That counts.
To every warrior woman walking through a hard season right now… you are not failing because it’s heavy. You are not weak because it hurts. If all you can do today is whisper His name… you’re still choosing to put on the garment of praise... and God still hears you. You don’t need to sound polished, you just need to stay anchored.
For what it’s worth, choosing praise in a moment like this is not small. It’s stubborn, defiant faith. The kind that moves mountains. ⚔️🔥🛡🔥⚔️
Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers- let's all stay and keep lifting each other up in prayer... because there are many storms being walked through that we don't know about.
Love,
Tina
