We are pleased to announce that Pastor Glenn Scheyhing has been appointed to our church. He will begin serving at Haleyville and Mauricetown UMCs on July 1. We will have various guests preaching until then.

Glenn Scheyhing has actively served both church and community for most of his adult life. Soon after becoming a Christian at 23, Glenn used his new faith on the foreign mission field. After 13 years, he attended seminary and, upon graduation, began what is now 20 years of pastoral ministry, serving four appointments in four districts of GNJ. Glenn has served as both Fire and Police Chaplain as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Glenn especially enjoys life with his wife of 26 years and college-bound daughter. He has a love for God’s Word and God’s People.

Here are two special gifts given to Pastor Erik at yesterday's farewell event that commemorate his time and work on the steeple project at Mauricetown UMC.
One photo is of the new steeple. The cross placed inside is cut from wood from the original steeple, which was replaced in 2022. There is also some plant life from the Maurice River added, as one can see the steeple from many places from the river.
The other photo is an incredible shot of the sunset and you will notice the outline of the steeple in the bottom right corner.
Both gifts are unique and and I'm sure they will be a blessing for Pastor Erik and Amy to take with them, as they move on to their new church in Ohio.

We welcome you to join us this Sunday for our farewell service for Pastor Erik and Amy. They will be moving out of New Jersey this month to begin serving another church. We have been greatly blessed to have Erik and Amy with us for almost 7 years. We will miss them dearly, but are happy for them as they follow God’s call to a new location. Please join us to celebrate their service and to wish them the best in this transition.

The scripture reading will be 2 Timothy 4:1-7. There will also be a special time of prayer during the service.

Join us this Sunday at 11AM for worship at Mauricetown UMC.

For those who prefer, we will also offer worship on Zoom on Sundays at 11AM.

It is the Winter Solstice and the longest night of the year. In the midst of what is supposed to be a joyful time, some are hurting and may not feel like celebrating, as they recall grief, loss, or other challenges from during the year.
If you are struggling right now, I hope you will believe that better days are ahead of you as the light returns and days get longer, along with the hope that comes with the Christmas holiday. Trust that the darkness in your life right now will not remain forever: "...weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning" (Psalm 30:5).
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow reflected on this amidst struggles in his life when he wrote the poem "Christmas Bells" in 1863. Songs have been made from his words and there is a link below to a version I particularly like, if you wish to hear it. This song is for you. Happy Winter Solstice & God bless.

Our churches worked together again this year to collect food items for 12 families in our community through our partnership with the local school.
Each family will get 3 bags of food. We did not give them a Christmas dinner, but as we have done in the past, these contain ready-to-eat and easy preparation items designed for students while they are on break from school around the Christmas and New Year.
We are blessed to give this and we hope they are blessed by it. I am grateful for the generosity of the people in both Haleyville amd Mauricetown Churches.
"It is more blessed to give than it is to recieve" (Acts 20:35).
