The Catholic Easter Vigil, held on Holy Saturday night, is the most sacred and "mother of all vigils" in the Church, celebrating Jesus's Resurrection. The service begins in darkness, features a candle-lit liturgy of the Word (up to 7 Old Testament readings), baptism/confirmation of new Catholics, and the Eucharist.
