Sunday Mass: 9:15 AM
Daily Mass: Mon-Fri 8:15 AM St. Margaret's Church had its beginnings on July 1, 1926, with Rev. Rose. Rejoice!

George Oley as the first pastor. He named the church for his mother. (It was the custom to allow the founding pastor to select the name of his new church. Father Oley's mother's name was Margaret Rose, and he therefore named the church in Mattydale St. Margaret and the church in North Syracuse St. Rose of Lima became an independent parish in 1947. After World War II, the Mattydale area experienced

dramatic growth, and expansion for St. Margaret's took shape as well. In 1954, ground was broken for the school by Father McNeill, the fourth pastor, who served from 1948 to 1974. More classes were added in 1957. The auditorium/gymnasium was completed in 1959. In 1993, parishioners at St. Margaret's Church dedicated a new church building on December 12, which included stained glass windows from the original church and windows from St. Joseph's Hospital chapel. In the spring of 1992, St. Margaret's parishioners said goodbye to their "Little Church" with a final Mass on March 20, the day the ground was broken for the present, newer, and larger church. In a poem for that memorial Mass, the "Little Church" 'spoke' to parishioners:

Do not grieve for me
Be not forlorn. I am reborn.

Happy 100th Anniversary, St. Margaret’s!
The very first Mass in our “little” church was celebrated on July 1, 1926.

We will honor the occasion at our weekend Masses, July 11-12th. There will be a video with highlights of the history of the parish, and of course there will be cake! 🍰

The celebrations continue on Sunday, August 9th, when Bishop Lucia will officiate a 12:00 Noon Mass. There will be a ”picnic” afterwards with food trucks, games, music, etc.! 🎶🎉

Lastly, on the feast day of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, October 16, there will be a celebratory dinner at Bella Domani. Stay tuned for details!

Please put these dates on your calendar and plan to join us as we mark this momentous milestone.

Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque was a French nun and mystic (1647–1690) best known for her visions of Jesus Christ, which led to the establishment of the modern devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She is the patron Saint of our parish.

On Friday, June 12th, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Please join us at the 8:15AM Mass as Father Joe consecrates our parish to the Sacred Heart.

Also, the Bishop will be celebrating a noon Mass at the Cathedral and will consecrate the Diocese of Syracuse.

Consecration implies a total surrender to the Savior in gratitude for his blessings in the past and as a pledge of fidelity in the future.

Please consider attending one of these Masses.

Also on Friday, Father Joe will consecrate our parish to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at our daily Mass at 8:15AM.

Bishop Douglas J. Lucia invites the faithful to join him on Friday, June 12th, at Noon at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

At the conclusion of Mass, Bishop Lucia will consecrate the Diocese of Syracuse to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, entrusting our diocesan family, our parishes, our communities, and all who call this local Church home to the loving care of Christ.

Please join us for this special moment of prayer and devotion as we unite our hearts with the Heart of Jesus.

If you are unable to attend in person, the Mass will be livestreamed so that all may participate in this historic moment for our diocese.
