There is great happiness in holiness

So I’ve heard many say, God loves you, I agree that God loves his elect.
We read in Psalm 5:5 “The boastful will not stand before your eyes; you hate evil doers” we throw this term “God loves you” around very flippantly and universally yet according to Psalm 5:5 he hates evil doers.
Anyone care to explain?

But I trust in you, O Lord, I say, “You are my God.”

Ps.31:14

Is God real to you? Is the kingdom of God worth losing everything you have?

We read in Exodus 20:4-5; "You are not to make for yourselves a carved image or any kind of representation of anything in heaven above or the earth beneath or in thew water below the shoreline. You are not to bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God...." Maybe its just me but as i have read this many times in the past I have always thought of the Israelites and the fashioning of the golden calf in Exodus 32. Aaron asks the Israelites for their gold earrings and he then fashions a gold calf from them. Moses by God's sovereign hand had led these Israelites through the parted waters of the Dead Sea, fr4om the evil hand of Pharoah and his army (Exodus 14). So, as Moses is on Mount Sinia receiving from the hand of God the 10 Commandments; Aaron then requests the gold earring from the people of Israel, for to make this golden calf. we later read in Exodus 32, these Israelites then bring burnt offerings and peace offerings to this golden calf (v. 6) and then begin to eat, drink and to play (v. 6); sadly, Israel was imitating orthodoxy through idolatry, the people "sacrificed burnt offerings" which were forms of offering otherwise appropriate for YAWEH. These Israelites as Moses was receiving these 10 Commandments were very much breaking this precious command "you shall not make for yourselves a carved image (IDOL)." And these Israelites were all too eager to spend money, spent time, and sleep in service of this idol. Paul in the book of Romans re-interate this 2nd commandment Romans 1:18-25. While we have no golden calf, we do have plenty of IDOLS. Our pets are idols, we love them we pamper them, are families our idols read (Luke 14:25-33). Money is a huge Idol; the Scripture reads; "you cannot serve God and money" (Matt. 6:24). I think it's time to evaluate what is truly important our IDOLS, hobbies, money, recreational activities and so on. REPENT! Isaiah 42:8; "I am the Lord, that is my name; my glory i give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols."
