Does Christmas ever feel like more pressure than peace?

Between buying gifts, planning gatherings, and trying to create picture-perfect moments, it’s easy to end the season feeling exhausted instead of expectant. But joy isn’t tied to what’s under the tree — it’s rooted in the One who came to set us free.

Our new Advent study, More Than a Manger, is designed to help you step away from the stress of the season and into the steadying presence of Jesus. And it’s not too late to join us!

In this season, you may be tempted to try and plan and prepare so many things that you miss the point of Christmas altogether.

Friend, this Christmas season can be different. In the midst of your gatherings, commitments, deadlines, and expectations, you can still make time for what your heart needs most.

Starting November 30, we’ll begin walking through, “More Than a Manger: An Advent Study,” a four-week study in our FREE First 5 app, to help you discover that:

• Hope is more than a feeling we try to hold on to — it’s a Savior who steps into our brokenness and makes us whole.

• Peace isn’t found in the absence of chaos — it's found in the presence of Christ, who calms every storm.

• Joy isn’t tied to what’s under the tree — it’s rooted in the One who came to set us free.

If you’ve struggled with slowing down and remembering what this season’s celebration is rooted in, this study is for you!

Some years, December feels like a blur.

The shopping lists. The gatherings. The expectations.
Between rushing from one event to the next, trying to make everything special, and carrying quiet burdens no one else sees, our hearts can grow weary and our souls can feel distant from the peace we’re supposed to be celebrating.

But what if this Christmas looked different?
What if, instead of chasing perfection, we slowed down enough to experience the presence of Christ — the One who came so we don’t have to carry it all alone?

This is what Advent invites us to remember:
Peace isn’t found in the absence of chaos. It’s found in the presence of Christ

This Advent season, we’d love to help you make room for Him. Join us in the First 5 app for our new study and December book club pick, “More Than a Manger: An Advent Study.”

It’s a simple way to quiet the noise and rediscover the true meaning of Christmas — right in the middle of your busy days. Together, we’ll trade chaos for peace, exhaustion for joy, and striving for rest in Him.

Advent begins November 30 — order your study guide through the link in our profile now!

As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, it can be easy for us to slip into preparation mode and miss the reason for this season altogether.

Maybe you’re trying to perfect gifts, gatherings, and invites, but secretly feeling overwhelmed and burnt out before the celebration even begins.

Maybe you’re feeling disconnected from Jesus, but just haven’t had time to slow down and reconnect.

Maybe this year Christmas looks different for your household; you long for things to be the way they were, but it keeps you from experiencing the joy of what’s to come.

Friend, we understand the desire to have the best Christmas. But the truth is, the lights will fade. The wrapping paper will be thrown away. The calendar will clear. But one thing will remain after it all, the presence of Jesus. That’s why Advent matters.

As we prepare our hearts through Advent, we begin to slow down long enough to notice His presence again, to let anticipation replace anxiety, and reflection soften the need to rush. This season invites us to approach Christmas differently: not with pressure to make it perfect, but with peace that reminds us Jesus already is.

That is why we’d like to invite you to join us for our new study, More Than a Manger: An Advent Study!

Advent begins November 30, so order your study guide today and let’s make room for Him together.

Our plans and progress aren’t always linear. Sometimes that can be frustrating when the goals you’ve set out to reach in the new year begin to seem anything but achievable.

Your pace may be slower than you’d like.
Setbacks may occur along the way.
You may be tempted to throw in the towel already.

But, friend, one month doesn’t have to determine how you approach the next! God is with you every step of the way. And when you’re tempted to look back and measure your progress compared to others, remember these truths:

•God is patient with you (2 Peter 3:9).

•God has a season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

•God has secured a hope and a future for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

•God has set a path before you, and His presence surrounds you (Psalm 16:11).

Which of these did you need to hear today?

During busy seasons, the pressure to make everything perfect only adds to the weight of endless to-do lists — but it doesn’t have to be that way.

What would it look like if this holiday season you chased presence over perfection?

This December, you’re invited to join us for a combined Bible study with our friends on the First 5 app for a special Advent study, “More Than A Manger.”

Together, we’ll discover:

✨ Hope is more than a feeling we try to hold on to — it’s a Savior who steps into our brokenness and makes us whole.

✨ Peace isn’t found in the absence of chaos — it's found in the presence of Christ, who calms every storm.

✨ Joy isn’t tied to what’s under the tree — it’s rooted in the One who came to set us free.

✨ Love isn’t just an emotion we long for — it’s the Savior who gave Himself so we could live fully known and fully forgiven.

Darkness can take many forms— grief that lingers, shame that feels too heavy to carry, confusion that clouds your mind, or fear that whispers you’ll never find your way out.

But the hope of the gospel reminds us that no matter how bad things may seem, darkness doesn’t get the final word.

In John 8:12, Jesus tells us, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (ESV)

Friend, Jesus’ light reaches even the places you thought were too broken, too hidden, or too far gone. He doesn’t just illuminate the path of life in front of you — He restores what’s within you. The more we turn toward Him, the more we can begin to see that even the darkest moments can reflect His goodness and grace.

So when the darkness feels overwhelming and it’s hard to see a way forward, remember this: There is no shadow in your life that the light of Jesus cannot overcome. His presence is constant, His promises are true, and his light will always find you.

Where have you seen God’s light in your life recently?

Sometimes it can be hard to believe that even a sliver of light could make a difference in the darkest times of our lives.

Maybe you’re walking through heartbreak that’s left you questioning your worth.

Maybe you’re facing the weight of depression that makes every day feel heavy.

Maybe you’re carrying shame from the past that you’re convinced is too much for God to redeem.

Oh friend, there is good news: God’s light doesn’t need perfect conditions to break through; it shines brightest in the dark.

His Word reminds us: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

There may be seasons when moving forward feels impossible. But God never leaves us wandering. His presence is steady, and His guidance can still be found, even in our darkest moments. When we slow down, open our hearts, and invite Him near, we begin to see that even the smallest glimmer of His light is enough to lead us through.

If you have a loved one who is far from God, never stop praying in faith for their salvation.

Sometimes we think we know exactly what we need. That job, that relationship, that open door — we pray for it, long for it, and wonder why it hasn’t happened yet. And when things don’t go the way we hoped, it’s easy to feel like God is holding out on us.

If you’ve ever felt that way, you’re not alone. But here’s the truth: God isn’t withholding good from you — He’s leading you toward what is best for you. Psalm 84:11 reminds us: "For the Lᴏʀᴅ God is a sun and shield; the Lᴏʀᴅ bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless" (NIV).

This doesn’t mean life will always go exactly as we planned, but it does mean we can trust God’s heart for us. He sees what we can’t. He knows what we truly need, and He cares more about our good than we ever could.

So if you’re in a season of waiting or wondering why things aren’t working out the way you expected, take heart. God is not late. He is not overlooking you. His plans are greater than you can imagine, and He will never withhold what is truly good.

When life is confusing, chaotic and crushing, it’s easy to believe the lie that we are the ones who hold the responsibility to come up with the solutions.

We try to fix the distance in that relationship.

We go back and forth on whether we should quit or stay in our job.

We fill our calendar attempting to juggle everything in the schedule.

We’re try to make peace and resolve all the family drama.

We strategize and plan. We make appointments, attempt conversations and get out our calendars, but in all our attempts we still feel anxious it might not be the best solution or maybe we have not done enough.

Isaiah 26:3 reminds us, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

God’s Word promises that God has perfect peace for us when we do two things…

1. Keep our mind on Him.
2. Trust He has a way for us as we seek Him

If life feels heavy and you begin to feel your peace being replaced with anxious planning, shift your eyes towards our all-knowing God and ask Him to help you find a way.

Leave an “amen” if you believe by faith, He will.

We’ve all walked through heavy seasons of darkness, wondering if we’ll ever see light again.

When we’re struggling to hold on to hope in the middle of heartbreak…

When we feel fear creeping in and don’t feel strong enough to keep it at bay…

When our life feels so uncertain and we need to know that God has us …

Oh friend, these are the times we need to remind ourselves of the truth found in Scripture: There is an everlasting light. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5, ESV).

That’s exactly why we created our new devotional, “Let In the Light: 50 Devotions to Confidently Know God Is Good and Guiding Your Steps,” to remind us that God’s light is always present, even in the middle of life’s hardest moments.

Imagine:

•50 days where God’s Word shines into the dark places of your heart.

•50 moments of light that remind you He is with you, even in your overwhelm.

•50 opportunities to share encouragement with women in your circle who need hope.

This devotional invites you to pause and reorient your heart to God’s goodness — one day at a time.
