Daily Bible Reading for Tuesday - John 2
Jesus first miracle is called a sign in John's Gospel alone. The miracles are a sign of who Jesus is (divine, not just human) and what He has come to do (defeat sin and the imperfections it has caused in our lives), and since wine is a symbol of joy, Jesus has come to restore true and lasting joy for us. This is the beginning (first) of His miracles--His greatest is yet to come--His resurrection from the dead.
The temple is the physical representation of God and His presence with HIs People. Jesus is the 'temple' incarnate (check out John 1:14), in the flesh, right here with us, fighting our battles and winning the victory for us. Jesus body is The Temple, and He comes to cleanse the false worship that we so easily fall into, which is about us, and not about emptying ourselves and humbly coming before God to receive gifts that He alone has won for us.
Jesus knows us, that we cannot save ourselves, nor conquer sin, death and te devil. He comes to take our place and win for us salvation.

Daily Bible Reading for Monday - John 1
Today we start a study of the Gospel (i.e., "Good News") written by John, a Disciple (i.e., "student") of Jesus, brother of James, an Apostle (i.e., "one who is sent out").
The is one of four Gospel accounts of the life of Jesus (Matthew, Mark and Luke), and most complex, with the most words of Jesus recorded of the four. Chapter one contains the theological truth of Jesus and His birth into this world.
v. 1 - opening with the same words as Genesis 1:1, Jesus is eternal, around before the world began and in words and actions He is fully God and fully man (v. 14).
v. 6 - this is John the Baptizer (not John, the author of this Gospel), who is Jesus' cousin, born to Mary's relative, Elizabeth. John is also an apostle--one sent by God.
v. 7 - John came preparing the way for Jesus, pointing to Jesus as the Savior and The Light (v. 9).
v. 14 - just as the tabernacle in Old Testament times was the visual reminder of the God who is a spirit and thus invisible, when Jesus is incarnate ("in flesh, body") we now have God is visible form, dwelling ("tabernacling") among us.
v. 23 - John the Baptist tells of a new 'exodus,' but this time not from slavery in Egypt as in the Old Testament, this time Jesus has come to set us free from bo***ge to sin, death and the devil.
v. 29 - like the scapegoat in Old Testament times, who took away the sins of the people into the desert, Jesus came to 'take away' our sin and pay for them by His on the cross and we are forgiven.
v. 35-51 Jesus calls the first Disciples from men who had heard of God's promise in Old Testament times to send a Savior, and they following, bringing along others (v. 41).
v. 47 Jesus shows His Godly powers by his knowledge of Nathaniel, and speaks truth about Himself (v. 51) and what He is coming to do. He is the Messiah, the Son of God and Son of Man, and the way to Heaven.

Daily Bible Reading for Saturday- Nehemiah 13
The last record of the history of Nehemiah the governor and Ezra the priest records the reforms that Nehemiah made. God’s people are to be holy or set apart from close relations from others who worship other gods so that they were not tempted to follow and fall away from the true God and lose their salvation. This is serious! It’s a matter of life and death/heaven and hell. We are called to live in this world, but to be transformed to the way of God, to let Christ’s light shine, but to not be conformed to this world.
