Good people,

We have a very exciting service planned this Sunday! Twelve new members will be welcomed into the church and will we will be celebrating four Baptisms and one Affirmation of Faith. God’s blessings abound! A special cake will be served at fellowship time.

My sermon this week will address different ways people interpret the Bible. Every Bible story communicates God’s Word to us, God’s people. Some Christian traditions teach that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Others interpret Holy Scripture as stories told to communicate how people should live in healthy relationship with God and others. I believe that reading scripture as story allows us to more deeply engage the text and discover the metaphorical truth that each story has to reveal.

I’ll have much more to say about this on Sunday and I look forward to being with you as we begin to study the Bible through the lens of story. May God bless you and may God bless our understanding of God’s Holy Word!

We hope you'll also join us on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 at either the 7 am Sunrise Service at the Shipyard Park Gazebo or the 10 am Family Service in the sanctuary.

Due to yesterday's snowstorm and the ongoing efforts to restore electricity and clear roadways, it has been decided to cancel the Open Table free community dinner at MCC scheduled for Friday, February 27 for everyone's safety. Our next dinner is planned for March 13, 2026 and hopefully we will see you then!

Good people,

This week, my sermon will address a familiar passage from the Gospel of Matthew regarding “Salt and Light.” Jesus’ message from his Sermon on the Mount provides a wonderful affirmation to God’s people. It is also a metaphorical instruction which serves as a cornerstone for understanding the role and influence of Christ’s disciples in the world. I look forward to being with you on Sunday to share more about Jesus’ important message and his words of encouragement to each of us.

May God bless you and keep you well until we meet again!

Good people,

This Sunday we will revisit the familiar story of Jesus calling his first disciples. James, John, Peter, and Andrew are names you may recall, but what about Philip? He was actually the first person in the Gospels to whom Jesus said “Follow Me.” My sermon this week will take a closer look at the disciple Philip in the New Testament and I’ll share some highlights of his story that come from legend. Finally, we’ll consider some common responses people have when our Lord invites us to follow.

I look forward to being in worship with you this week. May God bless you and keep you well!

Pastor Michael
