Bethel Church of Mathews

Bethel Church of Mathews Sunday school begins at 10:00am with service immediately following at 11:00am. Please join us!

We affirm our belief in the one living and true God in whom there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We witness to the presence of God’s grace, God’s unmerited favor, at work in and through us in our daily lives. Relying on this same grace, we seek to work toward the salvation, spiritual growth, social justice, and peace of all people. Through the power of the Holy Spirit

we seek to understand and communicate to others the love of God given to us in Jesus Christ. As we grow in understanding, we reflect critically on four guidelines in matters of faith. First, we believe in the primacy of Scripture as necessary to our salvation and to the revelation of God. Second, we rely on Christian tradition as an authentic and faithful witness to the message of Scripture. In order to be effective witness to the biblical message and the traditions of the church, we rely thirdly on our own experience and lastly on our reason. We seek confirmation within our own experiences of the truth of God’s grace, and we engage the use of our knowledge and reason for providing insight to the deeper meaning of this truth.

We had a wonderful musical service on this beautiful Sunday morning!

A heartfelt thank you to Richard Callis for all the time and effort he put into making it such a special experience. We were truly blessed by the incredible performances from George Opie, Jerry Ligon, Tres Barrineau, J.A. Faulkner, Lynda Smith, Michele Thacker, and our very own Richard Callis.

So much preparation goes into every performance—big or small—and Bethel Church is deeply grateful for each and every musician who shared their gifts with us today.
