Celebrating God's Faithfulness

As we prepare for Homecoming, our hearts overflow with gratitude for the generations who studied, prayed, served, sacrificed, rebuilt, and worshiped at Massies Mill Presbyterian Church. From the founding members of 1892 to the faithful servants of today, God has sustained this church through every season.

The words written for the church's 125th anniversary still ring true: We thank God for those who came before us, those who worship with us now, and those who will serve Christ faithfully in years to come.

📖 "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." — Psalm 107:1

📚✏️ BACK TO SCHOOL BLESSINGS! 🍎🎒

As a new school year begins, we want to wish all of our children, teachers, school staff, and families a safe, happy, and blessed return to school! ❤️

May this school year be filled with new friendships, exciting opportunities, lots of learning, and countless blessings. We pray that God watches over each child as they head through those school doors and gives them courage, kindness, wisdom, and confidence each day.

Let’s keep our children, teachers, and schools in our prayers throughout the year. 🙏❤️

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11

🎒 Have a wonderful and safe school year! May God bless each and every one of you! 🍎📚✏️

🌿 Thankful for a Beautiful Sunday Together 🌿

What a blessing our Sunday service was this past Sunday! We were especially grateful to have John Campbell lead our service and share a wonderful message on “Gratitude.” 🙏🏻

Before heading back to college, John graciously stepped in to share God’s Word with us and reminded us of something so important — to be grateful for what we have today. It’s easy to look ahead or wish for what we don’t have, but there is so much to be thankful for right where we are. ❤️

John chose the perfect song to close our service — “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake. What a beautiful way to end our time together, lifting our voices in praise and reminding ourselves of just how much we have to be thankful for. 🎶🙏🏻

John, thank you for giving your time, sharing your heart, and bringing such a meaningful message to our church family. We are so grateful for you and pray God blesses you richly as you return to college. We’ll be keeping you in our prayers and look forward to seeing you again! ❤️

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1

May we carry that message of gratitude with us throughout the week — taking time to notice the blessings God has placed right in front of us and giving Him thanks for each one. 🌿🤎

Thank you, John, for sharing your gift with us! We are grateful for you! 🙏🏻

Faith Through the Storm

As Homecoming draws nearer, we remember one of the most difficult seasons in our church's history. Hurricane Camille devastated the Massies Mill community in August 1969, destroying the church building and claiming the lives of beloved church members. Yet through grief and loss, God's people remained steadfast. The congregation worshiped together, made plans to rebuild, and trusted God for the future. Just two years later, a new church building was dedicated as a testimony to God's faithfulness and the perseverance of His people.

Today we are thankful for a legacy that teaches us that even in life's storms, God remains faithful.

📖 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1

What a blessing to stand on the faith of those who rebuilt and continued the work of the Lord. ❤️

We invite you to join us for our Homecoming Service on August 16th. at 10:00am.

“Homecoming”

Serving the Community

One of the beautiful chapters in our church's history is the commitment to serving the surrounding communities. From founding Sunday Schools in Massies Mill, Tyro, and Coxes Creek to supporting Vacation Bible School, the church faithfully carried the Gospel into the mountains and valleys of Nelson County. Leaders like Eff and Cammie Massie opened their home to children and helped establish ministries that would touch countless lives.

We are thankful for those who understood that ministry doesn't stop at the church doors—it reaches into homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

📖 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9

May we continue their legacy by sharing Christ's love wherever God places us. ❤️

A Foundation of Faith

🍂 Thankful Thursday 🍂

Today we thank God for the faithful men and women who planted the seeds of Massies Mill Presbyterian Church more than 130 years ago. In April 1892, a small group of Christians organized the congregation, purchased land along the Tye River, and began the work of building a church that would impact generations to come. Their faith, sacrifice, and determination laid the foundation for the ministry we enjoy today.

As we look toward Homecoming, we celebrate those whose vision was bigger than themselves and whose hearts were fixed on serving Christ.

📖 "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." — 1 Corinthians 3:11

Today, let's give thanks for the faithful founders who trusted God to build something that would bless future generations. ❤️

🎶 Thankful Thursday 🎶

Today we are thankful for the gift of music in God’s house—from the treasured old hymns we have loved for generations to traditional Christian music that continues to inspire our hearts. We are grateful for music that speaks to every generation and reminds us that there is a place for everyone in worship.

There is something special about voices joining together in praise. Whether we are singing the familiar words of a beloved hymn or lifting our voices in traditional Christian songs, each melody proclaims God’s faithfulness, strengthens our faith, and fills our sanctuary with joy. Music has a wonderful way of bringing the church to life, uniting us as one family in Christ, and preparing our hearts to hear God’s Word.

We are thankful for music for all—music that encourages, comforts, inspires, and points us to Jesus. Every voice, every song, and every heart offered in worship is a beautiful gift to the Lord.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”
— Colossians 3:16

May your heart be filled with a song of thanksgiving today.

🎵 Join us this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. as we gather to worship through old hymns, traditional Christian music, and heartfelt praise. Whatever your favorite style of worship music may be, we invite you to come and lift your voice with us as we glorify God together. All are welcome!

A dear friend gifted me a mug this week which inspired today’s post.

🌸 Thankful Thursday 🌸

Today we are especially thankful for the beautiful gift of faith, friendship, and sisterhood.

God places incredible women in our lives to encourage us, pray with us, lift us up when we’re weary, and celebrate with us in life’s sweetest moments. Through every season, true sisters in Christ remind us that we never walk alone.

May we continue to be women who love deeply, serve faithfully, encourage generously, and shine the light of Christ wherever we go.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.” — Hebrews 10:24–25

We are so thankful for the faithful women who make our church family stronger through their love, prayers, kindness, and unwavering faith.

May your Thursday be filled with God’s peace, joy, and countless reminders of His blessings. 💜

🍂 Thankful Thursday 🍂

Today we are especially thankful for faithful servants who answer God’s call with humble hearts.

This beautiful recognition of Elder Emeritus reminds us that a life dedicated to serving Christ and His Church leaves a lasting legacy. We thank God for leaders like Clemon Lawhorne , who faithfully shepherd His people, encourage His church, and point others to His love through years of devoted service.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your master.” — Matthew 25:23

As we reflect this Thankful Thursday, let us also give thanks for every person who serves behind the scenes and in the spotlight, using their gifts to glorify God. Your faithfulness makes a difference.

We invite you to worship with us this Sunday at 10:00 AM at Massies Mill Presbyterian Church. We’d love to welcome you as we gather to praise the Lord and grow together in faith.

Happy Thankful Thursday! May God continue to bless those who faithfully serve Him. 🙏❤️
