This Sunday's worship service addresses the uncomfortable but unavoidable reality of conflict, looking to Jesus' clear roadmap in Matthew 18 for faithful reconciliation. Rather than airing grievances, we will use this time to practice empathy, praying for those we experience friction with and recognizing them as fellow image-bearers of God. Ultimately, we will be reminded that we do not navigate these difficult challenges alone, finding our refuge and strength together in God's protective presence.

Join our friends at Resurrection Lutheran Church next Wednesday in Lebanon as they host this fantastic event!

I hope this message finds everyone well and that you're all having an amazing week. My name is Nico Lang, and I’m a longtime LGBTQ+ journalist, as well as the author of the award-winning national bestseller, American Teenager, which documents the lives of trans youth and their loved ones in seven different states. My goal was to speak back to extremist rhetoric about kids by showing trans young people as they actually are: powerfully human. For the past 23 months, I’ve been traveling the country on a historic 50-state tour to bring their voices to as many communities as possible, and as part of that work, I'll be in the greater Cincinnati area next week — on Wednesday, September 2 — for a reading/Q&A at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Lebanon (1270 N. Broadway St.), in conversation with civil rights legend Jim Obergefell. The event should start around 6:30pm.

I would love for folks from Compass Christian Church to join us. As a proud Cincinnati native, I could not be more excited to bring these stories back to southwestern Ohio.

This Sunday's worship explores the complex theme of power by highlighting unconventional biblical leaders who bravely used their influence to defy oppression and champion truth. Recognizing that power itself is simply a tool, the service will challenge us to examine how we wield our own influence and confess where we fall short. Through focused prayers, hymns, and storytelling, we will come together to seek the wisdom and humility to use our power faithfully for God's purposes.
