Moland Church – A Brief History
On January 2nd, 1895, in the area east of Mason, the Scandinavian Lutheran Congregation was organized. Henning Yderstad led this first meeting and would go on to serve the congregation for 40 years until 1934. The Ladies Aid began a collection to build a church on Thanksgiving Day, 1901. That day, they amassed a total of $1.65 to which one farmer commented t

such a rate, it would take 50 years to have a church built. Nevertheless, collection continued, land was cleared, and the church was finished in a few short years. The congregation was then renamed Moland Lutheran Church, after a church in Norway where Rev. In 1921 and 1975, improvements were made to the church. A basement that is now used as a fellowship hall was added, followed by a new nursery, entryway and restrooms. During its history, Moland has been maintained by faithful families and dedicated individuals. The Gospel mission of neighborly love is alive and well at our church as we look forward to many more years of spreading the message of God’s grace.
