What are you longing for that you don't have? 💭

In our last Bible study message from James 4, Pastor Andre walked us through 8 warnings about what happens when we desperately want something we lack—whether it's a relationship, financial security, a career opportunity, or something else entirely.

The hard truth? Our unfulfilled desires can lead to: • Coveting and envy • Anger and conflict with others • Fighting and quarreling • Prayerlessness or praying with wrong motives • Making that "thing" an idol that creates distance between us and God

James gets real about why there's so much conflict in our relationships—and it traces back to the "unsatisfied human desires within the hearts of men."

But here's the hope: When we bring our longings to God instead of making them our master, everything changes.

The Resurrection Changes Everything
Wednesday Devotional: The Central Message
Read: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Reflect: The resurrection isn't just a holiday or another theological topic—it's the spine of our faith. Paul reminds the Corinthians that the gospel they received, believed, and stood on was centered on three facts: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day according to the Scriptures.

But Paul introduces a sobering phrase: "unless you believed in vain." It's possible to agree with the facts about Jesus, to be convinced the gospel is true, but never actually be changed by it. This is a faith that says "I love you, Jesus" but never does what He says.

Apply:

Have you moved beyond mere agreement with the gospel to genuine transformation?

Does your private life—the one nobody sees—reflect your belief in the resurrection?

Where is Jesus calling you to move from intellectual assent to life-changing faith?

Pray: Lord, I don't want to believe in vain. Show me where I've treated You as merely factual rather than transformational. Change my heart so my life truly reflects that You are risen. Amen.
