The Open Table Jackson - Join us this Sunday, August 30, as we come together to brighten the day for students at Jackson Middle School!

We’ll be creating colorful chalk drawings and writing encouraging and positive messages to remind students that they are seen, valued, and supported by their community.

Everyone is welcome! Bring your creativity, bring a friend, and let’s fill the sidewalks with kindness, encouragement, and positivity! We can’t wait to see what we create together!

This is a big deal. On Wednesday, September 2, I have the incredible privilege of welcoming author and journalist Nico Lang for a conversation about their groundbreaking book, “American Teenager: How Trans Kids Are Surviving Hate and Finding Joy in a Turbulent Era.”

And moderating the conversation? Jim Obergefell—the civil rights activist whose name is on the landmark Supreme Court case that brought marriage equality to all 50 states.

Yes. Nico Lang and Jim Obergefell. Here. In Lebanon, Ohio.

There’s something especially meaningful about bringing this conversation to Lebanon. Nico grew up just down the road in Milford, Jim calls the Cincinnati area home, and now they’ll be together in Lebanon for an evening centered on the real lives, experiences, challenges, and joy of transgender young people.

Nico has also been on what is literally the longest book tour in history, traveling across the country to bring these stories into communities large and small. I am incredibly excited that Lebanon gets to be one of them.

This is the kind of conversation I believe deeply in creating: one that moves beyond headlines and political talking points and gives us the opportunity to listen, learn, ask better questions, and see one another more fully.

The Open Table Mason: We are at Lebanon Pride today! Come on by! Please note: We will not be gathering at Suite C (3615 Socialville-Fosters Rd., Mason) on Sunday, July 26.

Instead, we invite you to spend that time practicing Loving Action wherever you are. Loving Action doesn't have to be big or complicated. It can be as simple as intentionally making someone else's day a little better.

Here are a few ideas:
• Check in with a neighbor, friend, or family member who may need encouragement.
• Share a meal or coffee with someone who could use some company.
• Write a note or send a text letting someone know why they matter to you.
• Pick up litter in your neighborhood or a local park.
• Contact your elected officials about an issue that matters to you.
• Practice intentional kindness with every person you encounter that day.

Our Gatherings are important, but so is living what we practice in our own lives. We hope this Sunday becomes another opportunity to embody compassion, belonging, and justice in everyday ways. www.theopentableonline.org

We're Celebrating 7 Years! 🎉

Seven years ago, The Open Table began with a simple vision—to create a place where everyone belongs, everyone is welcomed, and lives are transformed through authentic community. Today, we're celebrating all that God has done and the incredible people who have made this journey possible.

Together, we'll reflect on the kind of community we've become. There will be opportunities to hear stories, share gratitude, and gather around the table as we remember that every person has helped write this story.

Whether you've been with us from the beginning or have just recently found your place at the table, we'd love for you to celebrate with us. Here's to seven amazing years—and all that is still to come!
