Someone tells you they worry about nearly everything, and they can't make it stop...

Or you meet someone who is persistently sad, to a point where getting out of bed feels hard...

How do you respond? What do you say?

Many of us want to help, so we reach for reassurance, advice, or a quick solution.
We might say, “It could be worse...” or “Why can't you just relax?”

The intention may be good. But to someone experiencing anxiety or depression, those words can sound like we don't understand what they're carrying.

Often, the most helpful thing we can offer is a thoughtful question that helps the person feel safe enough to keep talking.

Is there a point of focus, conflict, or adjustment that you’d like to talk through? Is there a decision point or growth point that you’d like to move forward in? Has pressure or conflict been hard to deal with lately? What about a goal or area of growth you'd like to explore?

Consider scheduling a 40-minute session during our Help Point Coaching Nights. These First Monday Night are designed to be a ministry for our church family, and are open to individuals and couples. We’ll have an in-person coaching space available at the church, as well as a video call option. Pastor Eric will be leading these nights as he serves on our Pastoral Team while also holding a life coach certification.

(Life coaching is a people-helping approach that happens in confidential one on one conversations that move from thought-provoking questions that promote discovery that leads to powerful awareness and relevant action)

This Sunday we'll explore the second week on the Millennial Reign of Christ. Here's something to consider....parents often tell their children what is ahead to calm their fears. Our Heavenly Father has given us information so we can calmly prepare for our future. The Scripture confirms God’s good plan for us. Now that we have an idea of what is ahead, we can focus on two things. First, since Jesus wins, we can face every challenge with hope. Secondly, it is important that we do everything we can to invite other people to be ready for this future under Jesus’ reign.
