The next station in the series is where Joseph of Arimathea helps to carry Jesus' cross. Having completed the station I was able to start the next one. This station on the right has begun the same way all the others have with the gesture first and we'll have heavy em pesto applied with a pallet knife afterwards.

I have completed the next two stations. Station 3 is Jesus falling for the first time. Jesus falls a number of times on the way to Golgotha. This station make sure reflect on how often we fall under the weight of sin. Station. 4. Is Jesus meets his mother. This station is particularly hard for those of us with children

It is always fun to dedicate babies. We got to do that last Sunday.

The first station has been completed. This is where Jesus is condemned to die. Caiaphas is the main ring leader in Jesus' condemnation, so I chose to focus on him
You only see the back of Jesus's head. I am using a pallet knife and pesto paint methods for all the foregrounds of these paintings.

During this season of Lent as a church, we are working our way through the Stations of the Cross. It is the goal to get through two stations of the Cross each Wednesday leading up to Easter. Sundays will be highlighting a more in-depth look at particular aspects of the passion journey.
In my personal devotions this season, I will also be painting the stations of the Cross. I will be keeping myself accountable by posting my progress in the studio this season. You can see in the first picture my references and prep work for the painting series. The second picture is showing the glaze I prepared for the background which is intentionally the color of permanent crimson. Paintings have always had a life of their own. It is exciting to see how these will turn out in cooperation with Christ and myself in the studio. Stay tuned for more...
