Summer Update- 2026
Hello everyone! I (Trent) wanted to create this post as a replacement for our normal newsletter we are used to sharing.
Really in terms of updates, it has been a fairly quiet summer here in Maryville.
Throughout the past two months we have been continuing our Tuesday night activities with a Bible study through the Book of Romans. With a large number of students working this summer, our attendance has been lower, yet I have found the smaller groups have proved to make for some better, more intimate conversations. We will finish up this study in two weeks as we gear up for the Fall semester.
Apart from the Bible study, we have participated numerous times in Northwest's student orientation event, SOAR. While at SOAR we were able to connect with hundreds of students who will be starting in the Fall, with many stopping by during the day to attend our Open House. We pray that no matter where these students end up, that they would find a Christ centered community somewhere and get plugged in (hopefully us!).
Along with this, myself, Goldie and some of our students served at Flaming Spirit Church camp in the month of June, which was a blessing as always.
As we look ahead to the coming month, there are a few events we wanted you to keep in mind, as you continue to pray for our ministry.
First, many students will be moving back to Maryville on Thursday, August 20th and our ministry will once again be helping out with Cat Crew (move in crew). We pray that we are able to make some great connections with these students, as well as their families as they get adjusted to college life, as well as to invite them to our welcome week events which start the very next day, and run until the next week.
Some noteworthy events to share with you all will be a worship night happening Friday, August 20th from 7-9 PM at the Pavilion (all are welcome to attend). We are most excited for this as we will be welcoming our very own CCH alumni band, Flash Flood Worship Co! Another big event happening the same weekend is our annual Back to School BBQ, which will be happening Sunday August 22nd from 5-8 PM, and again, all of you are welcome to attend!
There are many other events happening throughout the first week of school, so I will be sure to link below our welcome week flyer so you can see all that we will be doing!
Finally, we would ask that you'd continue to pray for our ministry as we start this new school here in a few short weeks. Our theme for the year is "Abide" which comes straight from John 15 where Jesus tells us to "abide in Him, the true vine". It is our prayer that we would "abide" in the vine of Christ this year, and that the Holy Spirit would continue to transform and embolden our students for the work of ministry on this campus.
