Pilgrim Lutheran Church began with pastors from Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario meeting with people in Marysville to lead worship in homes. In 1947, a congregation formed through an extension program of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The first church building was a small white clapboard building that was moved from St. Clair to the corner of what is now Michigan Avenue and Collard Avenue. Th

e present church building was dedicated in 1954. In 1976, PLC left the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and became a member of the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches. In 1988, Pilgrim merged with other AELC, LCA, and ALC congregations to form the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

One of the greatest things about this capital improvement work has been seeing how everyone is coming together to make it happen. This includes those praying, those donating, those wracking their brains to come up with solutions and best options, and those able and willing to jump in the mud. This isn't easy work, but smiles abound!

Today, let us give thanks to God for the gifts and talents God planted within us and let us ponder how we might use them to shine the light of Jesus in our world.

Suzanne talks about observing generosity in her house as a child, how she has tried to pass that on to her children, and her joy in seeing generosity at work at Pilgrim!
