Sometimes the need feels bigger than what we have.

Five loaves. Two fish. Thousands of hungry people.

This Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Scott Nowack continues our Sharing the Light stewardship series with a message titled “When There Isn’t Enough to Go Around.”

In Matthew 14, the disciples look at what they have and immediately see that it is not enough. Jesus simply says, “Bring them here to me.” What seemed too small becomes enough to feed the entire crowd, with twelve baskets left over.

The story invites us to stop focusing only on what we lack and consider what God might do with what we are willing to offer.

What makes a life matter?

Is it what we accumulate—or what we leave behind?

This Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Scott Nowack continues our “Sharing the Light” stewardship series with a message titled “Living a Life that Matters.”

Psalm 90 asks God to “prosper the work of our hands,” while Deuteronomy 34 looks back on the remarkable life of Moses and shows his work continuing through Joshua.

Together, these passages invite us to consider how we use the time, resources, gifts, and opportunities God has placed in our care—and what kind of legacy our lives are creating.

But what happens next?

This Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Scott Nowack brings a message titled “If You Love Me, Then Prove It,” reflecting on Exodus 17:1–7 and Matthew 21:23–32.

Jesus tells of two sons. One says no but eventually does what his father asks. The other says yes — and does nothing. Jesus asks which one truly did the father’s will.

The story invites us to consider whether our faith exists only in our words, or whether it can also be seen in the way we live.

In the wilderness, God provides enough bread for everyone. In Jesus’ parable of the vineyard workers, those who arrive late receive the same wage as those who have labored all day—and the generosity of the landowner becomes the source of complaint.

These stories invite us to consider a challenging truth: God’s mercy is not governed by our system of keeping score.
