Les Chanticleers is a music ministry organization that has been touching the hearts and minds of audiences of all ages and persuasions in the United States and Canada for more than 50 years. Les Chanticleers have cultivated and successfully shared the rich, vibrant, lost art of singing Negro Spirituals. This unique genre is deeply rooted in African American History and Culture, and continues to be one of the most unique styles of music.
Spirituals emerged during the enslavement of African people in the American South and consists of a blend of African cultural influences combined with the experiences of bo***ge and suffering. 2 Timothy 3:12 states…”Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution’”. As such, Spirituals have and will continue to be used by the Holy Spirit to comfort, encourage and uplift the listener. It is this rich cultural heritage that Les Chanticleers desires to continue to share with the world.

Saturday, December 16th
Les Chanticleers - Acapella Group @ Marysville Adventist Church
Concert @ Main Service - 11 a.m.

Les Chanticleers is an acapella group formed in 1971 under the directorship of Mildred Tuggle who continued to direct the group for 40+ years. Under her direction Les Chanticleers was blessed to be able to go far and wide in the United States and Jamaica. A lot of the sounds that you will hear in Les Chanticleers comes from hearing her uncles sing and listening to “Wings Over Jordan” She wanted that awesome sound, that sound of Jesus, to not be forgotten but to continue on. She often talked about how Jesus would come to her and teach her sounds in music. These special sounds were given to her when she wrote a song for the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. That song was accepted by Coretta Scott King called “Living the Dream” and “Living the Dream” became a part of Dr. King’s Estate. In November 2017 Sis. Tuggle fell asleep in the Lord. In her last few years, she began passing the mantle to Pattric Parris and Les Chanticleers continue to minister for the Lord in singing the Spirituals whether it is the Holiday Season, Easter Season, Black History Month, they will continue to witness for the Lord. Recently Les Chanticleers was chosen to present a video that was played during the last General Conference Session
