The gardens at Shepherd’s Gate Cottage are a bit like a scrapbook. 🌸 Each flower seems to tell a story, because many of them came as starts from the gardens of family and friends. As they bloom year after year, they remind me of the people, memories, and blessings woven into this place.

These peonies are especially dear to my heart because they came from my mom’s garden. Every year, they would bloom right around the time of Vacation Bible School, and Mom would gather armfuls of them to share with her VBS class. Their beauty and fragrance filled the room, just as her love and faith touched so many lives.

Now, each spring when these peonies burst into bloom at Shepherd’s Gate Cottage, they bring back sweet memories of Mom and remind me how the seeds of love, faith, and kindness continue to blossom long after they are planted.

“The memory of the righteous is a blessing.” — Proverbs 10:7

Arms raised.
Knees bowed.
Face down.
Hearts broken.

It is never too late to ask the God who longs to redeem to do the seemingly impossible. There is a renewed sense of hope that God might answer our prayers for revival in our nation. By His Spirit, he is stirring his people to pray in greater numbers than ever before. If Jesus is still interceding for us, how can we possibly stop praying for others?

What God is done in the past, he can do again. This is the hope we have for our nation, our cities, our friends, and loved ones. ~ Jim Jarman

What a great day seeing God’s people at work!

This morning we had the privilege of touring the broadcast studio of Christian radio station WFRN 104.7 FM.

What a great time of sharing with morning show hosts, Doug and Jonathan, who we are pictured here with. AND…tomorrow our new friends at WFRN will be GIVING AWAY a gift certificate to Shepherd’s Gate Cottage!!! So tune in to WFRN between 7-10AM for your chance to win!!!

Chuck shared during their Monday morning staff devo time about the Biblical commandment of sabbath rest…the importance of it and how God can bring transformation in your life through this spiritual practice.

Thanks to all of the staff at WFRN for using your gifts, talents, and abilities to fill the airwaves with music and messages which glorify the Lord!

There’s something deeply meaningful about hearing how God meets people in quiet places.

These precious guests, Jay and Amy, shared a little about their time at Shepherd’s Gate Cottage — a place to rest, reflect, pray, and simply breathe again. Every story reminds us why this ministry exists: to create sacred space where hearts can slow down and reconnect with the Lord.

We are so grateful for each guest who walks through our doors and leaves refreshed, encouraged, and reminded they are loved.

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” — Mark 6:31

Today we added a little lamb to the mailbox at Shepherd’s Gate Cottage… a gentle reminder to our guests that they’ve arrived at the right place.

Before a retreat even begins, we want weary hearts to feel welcomed, seen, and invited to rest in the care of the Good Shepherd. The lamb seemed like the perfect symbol of peace, guidance, and belonging.

Sometimes the journey to renewal starts with something simple — a quiet country drive, a deep breath, and a small sign saying, “You’re here.”

We pray every guest who turns into the drive feels the Lord’s gentle invitation:
“Come away and rest awhile.” ✨

Morning dew rests gently on these blooms, refreshing and renewing them. At Shepherd’s Gate Cottage, we often see God do the same for weary hearts.

In the quiet… in the stillness… in the sacred spaces of retreat, He brings refreshment that cannot be rushed or manufactured. Like tiny drops of dew, His presence comes softly — restoring peace, renewing strength, and awakening hope again.

May you find moments today to simply rest and receive the gentle refreshment of God. 🌸💧

Hidden deep within the shelter of the branches, in the gardens at Shepherd’s Gate Cottage, new life quietly waits to grow. Tiny, fragile, dependent… yet fully seen and cared for by God.

Sometimes our souls feel a little like this baby bird — weary, overwhelmed, needing a safe place to rest, heal, and be renewed.

A spiritual retreat is an invitation to step away from the noise and into the gentle covering of God’s presence. In the stillness, He nourishes what feels weak, breathes hope into what feels empty, and reminds us that new life often begins in quiet places.
