Thursday February 2, 2023 is Candlemas, The Presentaion of Our Lord, and Groundhog Day. It is forty days past Chrismas. Mary and Joseph, and Jesus went to the temple for Mary's ritual cleansing after giving birth to Jesus. Candlemas refers to the practice of having candles blessed for use during the coming year. Mary and Joseph would have had Jesus "presented" or dedicated to God.
