Sometimes, ministry happens when you least expect it! ❤️
Today, a group of wonderful ladies pulled up to Marvin United Methodist Church wanting to take a picture in front of the church. Some were visiting from out of town, and one of the ladies shared that Marvin was actually where she met her husband! So, of course, she wanted to stop by and capture a little piece of that memory.
As we talked, she mentioned that a friend of hers had visited our church just a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful the congregation was, how kind everyone had been, and how nice the pastor was. She said her friend told her he was a really good pastor, too!
Then she asked me, “Do you know the pastor?”
I said, “Yes, ma’am, and I hear he’s handsome, too!” 😂
She smiled from ear to ear and said, “WAIT! Are YOU the pastor?”
I said, “Yes, ma’am!” 😂❤️
Well, needless to say, we all had a good laugh, shared some hugs, and enjoyed a wonderful moment together.
But here’s what stayed with me…
You never know how far your kindness will travel or how long your grace will be remembered.
A simple smile, a warm welcome, a kind word, or the way you make somebody feel when they walk through your doors can leave an impression that travels far beyond the walls of the church.
And sometimes, people may forget what you said, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.
That’s what I love about Marvin. We’re not perfect, but we’re striving every day to be a place where people experience the love and grace of God.
Because grace isn’t just something we preach on Sunday. It’s something we ought to extend every day!
So, be kind. Be gracious. Love people. You never know who’s going to tell somebody else about the kindness you showed them.
And to these wonderful ladies, thank you for making my day! ❤️
