I took this photo a few days ago. The moon was absolutely beautiful hanging low in the sky.

If humanity puts their greatest minds together, we can travel to the moon. That's the height of human achievement.

As Christians we worship an almighty God who created the moon. We can bring back a few rocks from the moon. He hangs the moon in space.

Science tells us that physics makes it impossible for us to ever travel to even the nearest star beyond our own solar system. We can speculate and wonder if God created other beings out there around some other star. But until eternity, we will never meet them.

Now wrap your mind around this: Our Creator God put billions of galaxies in space each filled with billions of stars for no other reason than to show off His glory! That's the height of divine achievement.

When we profess, “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,” as it says in the Apostles' Creed, we are declaring that the God who is near to us is also sovereign over us—and therefore we can trust Him, submit to Him, and come to Him with confidence.

We begin a new series this week on the Apostles' Creed. We will use this as a doorway back into the Bible and the essential truths that unite us with all believers throughout the history of the church. This is a great series that explores the basics of Christianity. What does it mean to be a Christian? What do Christians believe? What do all Christians have in common? We will answer these questions and more beginning this week.

One of the themes we will be looking at from Zechariah is generational sin. Patterns or cycles of sinful behaviors and attitudes that repeat over multiple generations of families.

Think about your own family and your own life. Are there ways you see your parents coming out in your life that you wish they weren't? Do you see yourself coming out in the worst way in your children. Are there destructive cycles that have harmed multiple generations of your family? How has that cycle repeated or been broken in your own life?

Just a reminder for all of you reading ahead and reading along with the Minor Prophets. We are in Zechariah this week. He is the most "major" of the Minor Prophets with 14 chapters.

I forgot to mention last Sunday what minor prophet to read next. It's Haggai. It's super short, only two chapters, but to really appreciate what's going on in Haggai, it would also be a good idea to read Ezra as well. Ezra provides essential context.
