OLA EDGE Catholic Middle School Youth Ministry at OLA!

EDGE is a Catholic middle school ministry which combines youth ministry with catechesis to get young adolescents excited about their relationship with Jesus Christ and invite them to see the truth and beauty found in the Catholic faith! EDGE utilizes games, skits, videos, prayer, and small and large group discussions to teach and form young people in grades 6-8! Throughout the year this page will

be used to share information about upcoming events, cancellations, pictures and updates about past EDGE nights as well as quotes, scripture and musings to inspire and challenge you!

Today is the feast day of St. Ambrose of Milan.

St. Ambrose composed a beautiful Advent and Christmas hymn often sung in the eight days before Christmas.
Consider reading it as a family together today to honor his memory and help us turn our hearts towards Christmas:

Veni redemptor gentium (Come, Redeemer of the Nations)

Come, thou Redeemer of the earth,
and manifest thy virgin-birth:
let every age adoring fall;
such birth befits the God of all.

Begotten of no human will,
But of the Spirit, Thou art still
The Word of God in flesh arrayed,
The promised fruit to men displayed.

The virgin womb that burden gained
With virgin honor all unstained;
The banners there of virtue glow;
God in His temple dwells below.

Forth from His chamber goeth He,
That royal home of purity,
A giant in two-fold substance one,
Rejoicing now His course to run.

From God the Father He proceeds,
To God the Father back He speeds;
His course He runs to death and hell,
Returning on God's throne to dwell.

O equal to the Father, Thou!
Gird on Thy fleshly mantle now;
The weakness of our mortal state
With deathless might invigorate.

Thy cradle here shall glitter bright
And darkness breathe a newer light,
Where endless faith shall shine serene,
And twilight never intervene.

Amen.

Here is a great article for parents to read before beginning the Family Prayer Project (middle school Faith Formation.) How do we begin to pray? We look to God's great Love letter to us, see what truth He is speaking to our hearts, then we respond.

Scripture exists for us to know Jesus personally. That’s the purpose of prayer, as well. When we take Scripture to prayer, we should read it one story at a time, entering into that story and letting our own lives reflect it.

How much do you know about your kids’ most used apps?

Please take 5 minutes to read this article about the dangers of TikTok for kids. Super interesting even if you’re kids are not yet asking for it.

Just silly dances? Collin Kartchner shares what's REALLY on TikTok and how to talk to kids about freeing themselves from this toxic app.
