The book of Jude has only 25 verses.

Depending on the physical size of your Bible that may only take up one page out of thousands. Jude is also the last book before you turn the page and walk into Revelation which, I will be honest - I am still drinking milk from a sippy cup when it comes to the power behind the book of Revelation.

But Jude hits me smack on the forehead this morning as we wade through the chaos of the past week and stumble forward with defiant diligence, our hearts and minds focused forward on Jesus Christ.

I believe the Holy Bible is divine and inerrant, it is the truth, these stories and people from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 are real, and that this beloved book is our way to see God’s heart. When we pay attention to the Holy Bible it can show us the Way, the Truth and the Light. Jude is exactly where God placed it.

I am going to ask that you PLEASE read the whole book of Jude today. Then re-read it. As many times as you need to. There is an encouraging message wrapped up in these words that I don’t want you to miss.

Verses 20-21 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Before these verses you’ll see how Jude is warning us believers that the world is struggling to say the least and I think we can agree that is still the case today, BUT it will not always be this way.

This world is not our home and our future as Christ followers has us given us a security for an eternity we have no words to describe. The most beautiful thing in this world will be a muddy mess compared to the Glory we will see when when stand with Jesus.

We have to take action though. “Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait…”

Keep studying your Bible.
Keep praying with expectation.
Keep sharing the Joy of Christ.
Keep your mind on the Goodness of God.
Keep being grateful for the blessings He provides.
Keep your faith grounded in TRUTH.

The world needs you to keep on keeping on.

Be blessed dear friends.

What are you wearing?

Key phrases in these verses stick out to me this morning… “put on the armor of light” & “clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ”.

Of course, there is way more to these verses wrapped up in “love your neighbor as yourself” but if you have not gotten dressed this morning with the armor of light which is the Lord Jesus Christ, is your neighbor even going to notice you? Or are they noticing you for all the wrong reasons?

If you walk out of your house in the morning stark naked, you are definitely going to be noticed. If you do your grocery run in a bright red formal gown and a tiara you are going to be noticed. If you have not showered in a month and you stand in line for a coffee you are going to be noticed. Same goes for if you walk through your day grumbling about your job, whining about your feelings, voicing your jealousy, spreading misinformation, hate, worry, and negativity - people around you are noticing.

I challenge you to instead be noticed for the small loving actions you can share throughout your day with the light and love of Jesus draped around your shoulders. Smile, open a door, pick up a dropped pacifier for a haggard momma, shake hands with a stranger, ask your waiter or waitress how can you pray for them when you pray for your meal at the restaurant, give a good hug, listen- really listen- before responding, share your positivity, say “have a blessed day”, immediately pray for a friend in need not just say you’ll pray, and do it all over and over and over again and do more.

Not all of us can have a volcanic eruption of impact in one single moment that will guide people into the loving arms of Jesus. But we absolutely can have the same impact through the continual, every day, forward focus of sharing the monumental power of Christ through our firm, steady, non-wavering love for Jesus and your neighbor.

Now is the time to stand our ground as Christ followers. Turn away from the worldly desires of proving someone else right or wrong and turn your eyes upon Jesus. He is the Answer.

Be blessed today.

Friends, I urge you to choose wisely what you absorb from the multiple outlets of information. The world is in the midst of a turning point and my prayer is that each one of you turn to Jesus first. Actually not just first but always.

Many influencers believe they have your best interest at heart but if any person is directing your attention to anything other than Jesus Christ please take a moment to step back and question their motives. Even a small act of good intentions can lead someone astray.

There is only one Way, Truth, and Life and His name is Jesus Christ, Risen Savior, Son of God, Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords, and He is only a breath away. Declare HIS name above all the noise this world is currently throwing at us.

I also urge you to meet dissection and negativity with grace and love. My own family may face a hard choice and it hurts to consider the possibility that people we love may choose to remain separated from goodness, mercy, and light. Not because they outright believer in hate, but they cannot see past the past into a brighter future.

Satan has one goal- to separate us from the love of God. We will defeat him by sharing the love of Jesus in every way we can.

Be blessed friends

It has been 359 days since I posted to this page.

Like many of you I have faced 359 days of ups and downs, good days and bad, lost weight and gained it, made two steps forward and fell back too many steps to count.

One thing has never changed.

Not once in the past 359 days has Jesus given up on loving me. Or YOU.

Lyrics in a song this morning “everyday is another, try to choose to do more than survive, we could do more than survive.” And that made me think that I have been just surviving for a while now. I am compelled to do more than survive.

The world is full of negativity, confusion, sadness, anger, hate, selfishness, and maybe one of the worst…apathy. People are struggling in their own way to just survive, but life should be so much more than that. We have to keep our eyes, hearts, and minds focused on the good, the beautiful, the blessings, and the joy that the love of Jesus brings each day.

Tragedy played out before our eyes this week. A fellow child of God was murdered for sharing the Truth and Good News to thousands of people over the years. Killed for sharing that any one person doesn’t have to stay stuck in hate, lies, or confusion but has the free will to do better, be better, and make their own small part of the world better.

We have a turning point before us now. We fellow believers can choose to stay silent and let the fear of repercussions of our faith keep us tampered down, or we could use this tragedy to stand tall, firm, abiding in truth and love to show evil that Love Wins when it is wrapped in the arms of Jesus.

God-Family-Nation was one of the phrases Charlie Kirk used in his speeches. How we need to remember that in our own daily lives.

It is time to not just believe in God, but to boldly proclaim that God is Good, Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And that though we all fall short, we are all no good sinners WE are deeply loved by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Stand up my friends and remind someone…no remind EVERYONE that Jesus loves them.

Be blessed and be a blessing.

If you use the excuse “that’s just the way I am” or “I was born this way” or “I am what I am” then you are excusing bad behavior because YOU don’t want to change.

How do I know this? Because I have said those phrases myself.

God has granted everyone free will. You absolutely get to chose the path before you in every small decision you make. If you are constantly falling back on an excuse of “how you were made” then you are selling yourself short and limiting the possibilities for what God has in store for you.

We are made in His image and we have a lifelong fight to move forward continuously to align our humanness back with God’s greatness. Please notice I said align with, not over take, not stay a step behind, but to walk WITH God in our every day lives to obtain peace.

It is an epic battle that will beat us down and make us question our sanity, but those moments of pure love, peace, mercy, and grace are so worth the breaks and bruises we have endured along the way. Thankfully, we have a battle buddy.

His name is Jesus.

If I can give anyone a bit of encouragement this morning, please know that you can overcome your past. You can choose better in the next moment, all day even, and keep climbing that mountain. You are made to change.

I am happy to help. If you need prayer or encouragement please feel free to message me. I would love to be a battle buddy too.

It takes time.

Just one seed. The seed itself has no idea what it was planted for, only that the soil was a pretty comfy place to hang out. It could have used a bit more sun, a touch more water, but it knew it had to grow a bit, the next few inches of growth would surely help it thrive. Okay, yeah, there is a huge boulder on top of it, but the seed had plenty of time as long as it didn’t give up.

Years passed and the seed struggled. Some years the seed grew exponentially, others the seed felt it was not ever going to see the sun. But even in the dark, even with the burden of the constant pressure from the rock, the seed kept growing, even if only by millimeters.

One day, a fissure opened with a small bursting pop, and the seed was able to really wiggle up. Progress! Then another long wait ensued and the weight got even heavier. The seed yearned for one more of those small cracks to help it spread its little shoulders, but they were few and far between.

Not only was the seed weighed down, in total darkness, grasping for trickles of water, but the seed felt totally alone. A beetle would pass by, tickling with teeny tiny feet, or a worm would slither by, cool and smooth, it almost felt like a hug. The seed could hear the sounds of birds, wind, the huff of deer, or the occasionally heavy step of a bear, but alone the seed remained.

Time passed.

The seed learned to take every victory with joy, and every setback, also with joy. The seed learned that though alone, there was an encouraging voice deep inside saying “don’t you dare give up”. The seed came to depend on that voice. The seed did not give up, though in the longest of waits it was so very very hard. The seed clung to the voice, always there, “don’t you dare give up.”

The seed had never known how bright the sunshine could be until one day with the mightiest of booms the massive, heavy, never ending rock split apart and glorious light filled the crack, wind brushed against its now thick, tough bark, and when the first drops of sweet rain touched its first tiny limb, a brand new leaf sprouted.

The seed never knew what it was planted for.

But I do.

Keep growing friends.

Perspective this morning.

The young man walked in soaked to the bone. He is walking his way back to Texas to “fix some things”. The storm caught him off guard and he doesn’t have anything at all dry. A warm cup of coffee and a hot meal is a start, but his physical needs are only a part of it.

Though he is not my son, he is someone’s prodigal.

There are so many people who are struggling. His struggle is with substances that I am blessed never to have struggled with. He deals with paranoia, loneliness, anxiety and more. He cannot sit still and only occasionally pauses to look at me directly with clear blue eyes.

We were able to provide a small amount of listening time, the meal, and a few supplies to hopefully keep him dry the next time a rain storm hits. But we cannot fix the raging storm he is facing inside. Only God can.

His name is Daniel and I will remember him in my prayers right along with my own prodigals.

A good goodbye.

Many months ago I started this page to share my love of God, the Good News of Jesus Christ, and the lessons I learn through the Living Word.

My hope was to reach at least a few people. I never wanted to be the next Terkurst, Moore, or whoever is popular right now. I wanted to stay “local” to reach people in my community who may need encouragement and prayer.

I believe I achieved that goal to some extent, and failed in ways too. This page has allowed me to share God’s love as well as indulge in my creative side by making the images I attach.

However…

It’s time to let it go.

Though I never wanted 10,000 followers I did want to see an increase of sorts. Yes, reaching even one person is important. Yes, I may be reaching people I don’t even know about. Yes, the numbers don’t matter people do… yet, maybe this is not the right way for me to reach those I am supposed to reach.

I will leave this page up for a while. If it is in God’s will I can always pick up where I left off. I need to take time to reevaluate how to serve God wholeheartedly every day this side of Heaven.

For those who are interested, I am still available for prayer, again this page will be up so messenger will still be accessible, or if you know me personally please just reach out! I am also still spending Wednesday mornings from 6-7am at the Marshfield McDonalds if anyone wants to stop for prayer.

My hope and my future is in God’s hands and I will stay focused on doing my best FOR HIM. I pray that you do the same. Find a path to serve in an Ephesians 6:7 way.

Rejoice always!

When training (diligently practicing) for something you need the appropriate gear, tools, or equipment to achieve the best possible outcome or performance. Running means you need stable shoes, tennis a lightweight racket, football a good helmet. You need a coach, too, to really help guide your way, encourage you, keep your path straight to your goal.

As diligent Christ-followers whose goal is to end this race in an Acts 20:24 way, we have the best tool and coach ever.

Scripture IS given by inspiration of GOD. Scripture is profitable for divine instruction, guiding believers along the narrow path, giving us a wake up call when we have strayed, and shows us how to share life daily in a Christ centered way. Scripture teaches us how to connect with our Heavenly Father and the outcome of that connection will be good work FOR HIM.

The Bible is so powerful and, too often, overlooked as the answer when people are faced with challenges, fears, and all the negativity the world has to offer.

I know I overlooked the answers available within these pages for many years, or worse yet, I “thought” I knew what the Bible said by hearing someone else tell me, saw an inspirational poster, skimmed through the good parts of the Bible, or watched a movie with a good biblical theme. Those were good starts, but would not help me win this race.

Reading scripture can be hard, confusing, and in our busy world, time consuming. I would like to challenge you to examine your average 16 hours you are awake each day. There are moments that add up to time that could be spent in a few verses, maybe even a chapter of the Good Word instead.

Let’s use our practice analogy… if your goal is to be a top notch runner you are not going to show up with a football helmet on your head holding a tennis racket. You are going to prepare in the best way to make you the best athlete.

So, what are you practicing for? The best Facebook scroller ever? (That’s me, by the way.) The number one Amazon customer? First place in viewing every tv show available? These activities that seem harmless…no, you’re right, they aren’t “hurting” anyone… but they are helping to achieve satan’s number one goal. Separation from our Heavenly Father.

Not only do we have God’s inerrant Word as the best piece of equipment to win, we have a multitude of solid biblical scholars, as well as inspiring everyday people from who we can gain inspiration, knowledge, and help us dig deeper. But we must take in the Word of God for ourselves.

A bad Sunday School teacher taught me a lot from the Bible because he often got it a little wrong. I would sit there and think to myself, “I don’t think that is what God is saying here”…so I went and looked it up for myself. Sometimes that teacher did have it right and I was wrong, sometimes I learned something completely unexpected. The best part… I learned to always go back to the Word for myself. I can only encourage you to do the same.

Take a moment, go find that Bible you have tucked away somewhere, or open that Bible app on your phone. Go find 2 Timothy chapter 3 and read the whole thing. It is only 17 verses, you can do it. Once you have, let me know what you think. See anything that made you say “hmmm”? Anything that helped you realize that what you may have heard before was true, or untrue? Wanna talk more about it? Reach out, I would love to talk it through in a “let’s figure this out together” way.

Happy Friday!

Diligent sounds a lot like practice, right? To keep on keeping on. Not giving up, focused on the end goal. Eyes on the prize. To work hard to achieve your goal.

But what is the goal? What are we supposed to be working towards? We have accepted the gift of salvation, now what?

We serve. We work WITH Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to show others the goodness of God.

It is a job I failed at for many years. I accepted the gift of Jesus and then literally got stuck. I had moments where I did great at sharing the Good News, but too many long seasons of banking on the gift of salvation and not pulling my weight as a servant of Christ.

I am not saying that those long seasons were good, easy, or even filled with abundant joy…nope. I am also not suggesting that by following God’s Word to the letter will grant you all the desires of your heart and there will not be obstacles in your way, also nope.

Nowadays, I am working hard, diligently, to present myself approved to God first, people second. I want to work on His behalf without shame. I want to rightly divide the Word and do my best to know what the Word says and what it does not.

It is hard work.

Not in the sense that my back hurts, my fingernails are dirty, or my feet are sore. It is hard work in the fact that I want so badly to get it as right as I possibly can. So often people quote scripture to prove THEIR point and actually miss the point completely. Someone may say “that is your interpretation”, they may see a different point of view.

This complicated verse reminds me to focus on what God’s point of view is. As many words as there are in the Bible, even if we study them night and day for years and years…there is still more to learn. So my few hours a day is only a toe in the water of God’s truth and love.

I want to encourage you to stay the course, be diligent in your work FOR God. Serving God in serving your family, your employer, your friends, those who need serving the most, serving those we do not even think deserve it.

Anyone want to work WITH GOD with me?

Practice makes perfect, right?

Way way back in the day I was an athlete. I ran and ran and ran. Miles and miles. But I didn’t just hop out of bed one morning and throw on a pair of shoes and run a marathon. I started with one mile, then a few miles… this is not a new thing, you get the concept. But my point is I worked at a goal, practiced good habits, and I was determined to get good enough to win.

Before Christ I “thought” I was a good person, but my daily practice of living life would have said otherwise. My attitude was not aligned with God’s goodness, mercy, grace or love. I was a tool used by satan to spread a lot of negativity… and I had a lot of practice. When my heart was opened to the love of Christ I learned differently

1 John 3:9 speaks of this transition.

Because of this new birth, my adoption into the family of God, I now know better. I have the gift of discernment through the Holy Spirit. The love of Jesus is my firm foundation. I know my Heavenly Father has a perfect plan for my future. I have been changed, I have a new race to run.

There are a lot of miles still in front of me, mountains to climb, rivers to navigate, battles to overcome. Instead of getting the running shoes laced up I am now conquering miles of God’s Word. Yes, some days I may fall short, but my daily practice is full of His goodness and His Victory.

Practice is doing something over and over again until you master the skill. You can absolutely say the sinners prayer and receive the gift of salvation by accepting Christ as your Savior, but that is not the end of the race. Your race course has now changed, in fact it may be even harder to run. With “practice”… reading your Bible, attending church, surrounding yourself with God-fearing friends, choosing HIS goodness and love… the finish line is going to be JOYOUS!

Who wants to run with me?

Can I be honest with you?

I have learned a lot from this morning’s study on 1 John 5-10, but I just don’t know how to accurately put into words the lessons, the truth, and the facts of what I have received through God’s Word.

I WANT to share. It is important for YOU to hear the Good News. It is my joy to spread the mercy, grace, love, and forgiveness I see within these verses. So why am I having such a hard time finding the right words this morning?

Maybe these verses hit too close to home for me?
Maybe these verses won’t hit you the same way?
Maybe they will. I am so unsure of how to say what needs to be said today.

I woke up a sinner in need of grace today.
I will wake up a sinner in need of grace tomorrow and the next day and the next… I need Jesus every moment of every day. That simple fact alone shows me that 1 John 1:7 is 100% true.

Who will walk in the Light with me today?
