Ladies, we can’t wait to gather together for a night of fun, fellowship, and encouragement!

This isn’t just an event — it’s a chance to slow down, laugh, connect, and rally around one another. Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply show up for each other.

01/31/2026

Tomorrow morning, because of the weather, we won’t be gathering in the church building — but we will still gather.
Join Pastor Rusty at the table

Just a table, a cup of coffee, and a reminder of what really matters.
Pull up a chair at your table.
Grab your Bible, a notepad, and your coffee.
And let’s look at a simple truth we can all live by:
Love God.
Love people.
In a world where so much keeps changing, let’s slow down and focus on what truly lasts.

In the Belly of the Whale

“Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
‭‭Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My son Caleb served nine years in the Army. He served with the 82nd Airborne and later became a sergeant. Months before Caleb joined the military, God allowed me to see visions and dreams of my son. Specific visions of a silhouette in the image of him—climbing up the side of a mountain, again and again, in my dreams.

I would wake up in the middle of the night, praying over my son, not understanding the reason for these dreams—until the last one. In it, he was wearing military boots and carrying a backpack. Undoubtedly, God was preparing me to pray over my son.

You see, I had prayed my son out of four deployments—until he said, “Mama, it’s my turn. Don’t pray me out of this one.” Finally, peace settled in, and he was deployed.

One distinct morning on my commute, I remember the exact spot where the Lord spoke these words to me: *“I’ve placed him in the belly of the whale.”* The Scripture and image of Jonah in the whale came to my immediate mind. Tears flowed down my face—confirmation from God. Suddenly, a warm peace overflowed me. From that morning on, Caleb’s safety was in the Father’s hands.

Many times I would cry out in prayer: *“Lord, he’s no better than any of the other soldiers, but You gave him to me, and it’s my responsibility to pray over him. Saturate him in Your hands.”* And He did—God protected my son.

When we pray a hedge around our children, we must ultimately believe, trust, and acknowledge the power of prayer and fasting.

Jonah ran from God, but God had different plans for him, and He made that obvious. My point is… we can’t run from God. Thank You, Lord, for Your purpose in our lives—for making provision, for protecting us, and for providing for us.

When God has a plan, don’t run from it. Embrace it.

Peace, be still!

What a powerful statement. When we feel overwhelmed, anxious, helpless, or hopeless—those words are powerful! However, those are not just words. You have to stand with authority in Jesus’ name. When Jesus spoke those words, the winds and seas obeyed His command. Through faith and perseverance, stand firm on His solid Word.

I’m reminded of the Thursday night of the storm, Helene. I was alone with my two dogs during the storm, surrounded by tall trees. Listening to bending limbs under pressure snapping all around me, powerful winds waving back and forth throughout a dark-filled night, and pounding raindrops hitting the windows—I was uncertain of what damage was actually occurring.

In those long, crucial hours, the words
“Peace, be still, in Jesus’ name” constantly passed from my lips as I moved back and forth to my windows, speaking those words repeatedly and crying out to God: Protect me, Lord, my children, my neighbors, my community. He honored that prayer. In those moments of uncertainty and fear, I chose to continuously pray through the night.

Early the next morning, in a bit of a panic, I rushed outside with one of my dogs to assess the surroundings. Suddenly, a tree fell between me and my dog—missing my dog by only inches. Things could’ve been so much worse. A few hours later, my son walked four hours with a backpack and chainsaw just to check on his mama.

We all have our own stories and storms that we face. My point in this week’s devotion is this:

No matter the storm, no matter how uncertain the winds are blowing, or how overwhelming we may feel by circumstances out of our control—God is still in control. Jesus is the Master of the ship. Allow Jesus to speak “Peace, be still.” Lean into His collective calmness, realizing He is in control—a consistent help in time of need.

Have you ever been desperate enough?

Desperate enough to stand firm in your convictions? Some circumstances are worth waiting on. Stand still and let God move. When we've prayed and fasted and completely given it to God, I believe God wants us to claim it.

I want to share something that ties into last week’s devotion about “Pray without ceasing.” I was a young mama after I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I was in the bathroom, cleaning the toilet of all things, and that scripture—“evening and morning and at noon, I will pray”—came to me. I’ll never forget that moment, down on my knees, praying and seeking the Lord while cleaning that toilet. God spoke to me and told me He wanted to hear from me every morning. From that point on, I remember waking up and starting my day out talking to the Lord, as my heart would grow fuller with conversations, saying, “God move morning, night, and noon, I will see Your face, Lord.” Pray without ceasing.

I'm reminded in our devotion—Boaz waited patiently for the closest next-in-line relative to claim the property of Ruth. But it was God's purpose for Boaz to take Ruth. You see, it's not always the next in line to receive the blessing.

God has a purpose for each and every one of us. Nevertheless, we think we are the last choice, but really we're the first choice. The book of Ruth—one of my favorites in the Bible—shows Ruth full of perseverance and strength. Even in her most desperate moment, she never gave up. God provided! Claim your purpose!

Waiting on God’s confirmation, having clarity from the Lord, standing still again, and waiting on that confirmation, believing God is going to answer.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 3:5

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all.”
Isaiah 46:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28

“Pray Without Ceasing: The Power of Persistent Prayer”

The scripture that I felt compelled to use this week is “pray without ceasing.” And that is so true in so many aspects. We never need to give up praying no matter what the circumstances. It doesn’t matter how small or how huge the request is. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all. We unfortunately limit him.

I’ll share something with you that I’ve seen our God do through years ago. There was a financial need. Long story short I started out the day with $12. I prayed wholeheartedly diligently that morning by the end of the day God blessed me with $1200. There have been times in my life that I’ve not had enough food in my pantry And I have gotten down and prayed and asked God how am I gonna feed my family and within an hour…. a Saint called me. Out of the blue. Says to me, I have just been out and picked our garden. I’ve got an abundance of food. Can you use any? I got off the phone and just cried and said that was you Lord, I know that was you. My point is I have seen God do so many incredible things in my life. There is nothing too hard for him and he hears us. He listens to us, but he answers in his time.

Prayer is a mighty tool. God has empowered us, instructed us, and equipped us to pray—utilizing our faith and trust in Him, and investing our time and energy. If you truly want a change in your circumstances, pray!

‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
JEREMIAH 33:3

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear
II CHRONICLES 7:14

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
JOHN 15:7

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
I JOHN 5:14

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
MARK 11:24

praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

✨ Meet Veronica Murphy! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Veronica Murphy as our August devotional writer! A Calvary member for four years, Veronica brings a powerful testimony of God’s grace and redemptive power.

Her life has been deeply touched by loss and suffering—losing her father in a tragic accident at age 3, and watching her mother battle cancer and addiction from the time she was just 5 years old. But even in those early years, God was at work, shaping her into a prayer warrior. As a little girl, family members would gather around her bedside just to hear her pray—something she now recognizes as a gift and calling.

Saved at 19, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost at 23, Veronica’s life is a testament to God’s transforming power. She’s a devoted mom of three—all married and serving the Lord—and a joyful “Gigi” to three grandchildren (with a fourth on the way!).

With over 28 years in the dental field, Veronica currently serves as a DAII pediatric assistant. Outside of work, she enjoys long walks, her doodles Murfee and Bennett, and creative pursuits like DIY projects, decorating, photography, and gardening.

We’re honored to have her share her heart with us this month. Her story is a reminder that God redeems every past and raises up prayer warriors for His glory. 💛
