Written by a preacher friend very recently And very personally affected by COVID
“Special thanks to all who came to be part of our assembly this morning. What a special time it is to join together to worship our Creator and Savior, to be reminded of who provides for us, and what is waiting for us beyond today.
What follows I do not want anyone to misunderstand, but I feel it needs to be said. COVID is real, no one knows that more than I do. But what I am proud of most of all for Karen is, when physically able, she never missed an assembly. She understood what it meant to seek first the kingdom. She understood she should fear God more than anyone or anything else in this existence. She truly did not love her life even to death (Rev. 12:11) to be faithful to the Lord. So, I have to ask the question, why can people who claim to follow Christ go to Target and Wal-Mart, or Lowes or Home Depot, or trade days, or pottery shops, or restaurants, or anywhere else filled with strangers, where items may or may not be sanitized, and the risk is real, but claim it's too dangerous to worship God? Dangers everywhere else don't seem to matter, but only when it comes to Christian living. "And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” (Rev. 14:13). What deeds will follow us to judgment? It's a fair question to ask, and one everybody will answer someday. If I'm going to risk my life by interacting in the world around me, I want to do it in serving God, not my desires. How about you?”
