Pastor Matt here. I have to brag about the folks in our Monday night Bible study. We started our study of Acts today, and I am pleased to report that we officially covered a total of one-third of one verse. We had a lengthy discussion of who Theophilus might have been, and how Luke's two-part gospel would have been written.

The brag is that THEY asked ME about the Dead Sea Scrolls. They also now know about Q, and I got to use one of my all-time favorite words, "papyrologist," in a sentence. 🤓

Congratulations to our newly-elected member of the Board of Bishops!

General Conference delegates voted Tuesday evening, March 17, to elect Fraser Venter as a bishop of the Free Methodist Church USA to succeed retiring Bishop Kenny Martin.

Venter currently serves as the FMCUSA’s strategic catalyst for love-driven justice. He will begin serving on the FMCUSA Board of Bishops on June 1, 2026. During the onboarding process, Venter will work for three months alongside Bishop Martin whose final day as bishop will be Aug. 31, 2026.

Venter received 124 votes from General Conference 2023 delegates who reconvened online for the special election. Ricardo Gómez, the Latin America area director for Free Methodist World Missions, received 106 votes. Mike Chong Perkinson, the superintendent of the Pacific Coast Japanese Conference, received 12 votes.

“Congratulations to Bishop-Elect Fraser. On behalf of the Board of Administration and the whole General Conference, it's my joy to congratulate you on your election as bishop,” said Amy Colgan Clark, vice chair of the FMCUSA Board of Administration. “We give thanks to God for your willingness to answer this call and for the gifts, the wisdom, and the faith you bring to this ministry. We recognize that this is a sacred responsibility, and we receive your election with gratitude, with hope and prayer. Please know that you’re already being surrounded by the prayers of the FMCUSA as you prepare for this new role. We look forward to the leadership you will offer and to the ways which God will continue to work through you in the life of the church.”
