God is blessing our Community, again.
Walnut Presbyterian Church is hosting the WPC Community Fun Day this Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11am until 3pm at 270 Barnard Road, Marshall NC 28753.
The flyer with more information is below. Thanks go to Angela Pearson for the flyer.
Thanks Angela, Session Members, all Walnut Presbyterian Church members, and volunteers! Thanks to the Fire Department, Sheriff Department, local individuals and businesses for helping with this event. May this event bless many and bring praise to God while serving our community. Please keep our Community Fun Day covered in your daily prayers.

Good morning,
Have you thought about last Sunday’s message from God? Have you decided which hidden skill, talent or hobby is being called forth? We should remember that all we give should be with a joyful heart.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
That scripture may connect in your mind with the offering, but God wants all of you, including your ability to create, protect, and do all that he calls you to do. Do not short-change God and what he is calling from you. We are to give all we are to our Lord! And we are to enjoy making it and dedicating our work to the Lord.
Have you found a way to bless others by sharing your gifts?

Matthew 14:22-33
14:22Immediately he made the disciples get into a boat and go on ahead to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.
14:23And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,
14:24but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them.
14:25And early in the morning he came walking toward them on the sea.
14:26But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear.
14:27But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid."
14:28Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."
14:29He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus.
14:30But when he noticed the strong wind, he became frightened, and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"
14:31Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
14:32When they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
14:33And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God.

Which verse of this scripture took your breath away? Your breath was not taken? Can you feel it? Pray then read it again.
Last Sunday, during our Message, you heard the following miracle:
March 1912 , He was sitting in his photography darkroom. He opened his Bible and He says he saw a vision. He wrote a hymn in 45 minutes. A hymn that has never left us.
Charles Austin Miles was a pharmacist, a part-time minister and had a hobby as a photographer. On this faithful day, Miles was reading John 20 about Mary Magdalene arriving at the empty tomb. Miles shared as he was reading, the scene became vivid in an overwhelming way. As if he was standing in the Garden himself, witnessing the scene unfolding. He grabbed paper and pen and 45 minutes later, the words and melody was complete for hymn, “In the Garden”.
Perhaps, I should ask…Did you witness our scripture? Did you see it? Did Jesus’s feet splash water when he walked on the Sea of Galilee? Did you see Jesus praying? Did Peter jump out of the boat or slowly, gently put his foot on the water? Did he hesitate to call for Jesus to save him?
The Disciples realized that Jesus was the Son of God. Can you feel/see/testify that Our Lord is the Son of God? Glory Be To God!

Good morning,
Yesterday brought to us, in the mountains of Western North Carolina, heavy rain, tornados, high winds with thunder and lightning. Our Lord kept us safe under his wings. Praise Be To God!
While preparing for Sunday’s service, my creative side is buzzing. Do you have a hobby that kicks your creativity into gear? Poetry, crafts, art, storytelling, or another activity that takes talent. In other words, another gift from God that deserves our gratitude. Let’s make sure that we thank God for all of the gifts and talents he has given us.
We serve the Lord not only inside the church but everywhere. Have you found a way to bless others by sharing your gifts?

14:13Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns.
14:14When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion for them and cured their sick.
14:15When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves."
14:16Jesus said to them, "They need not go away; you give them something to eat."
14:17They replied, "We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish."
14:18And he said, "Bring them here to me."
14:19Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
14:20And all ate and were filled, and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.
14:21And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Our Lord and Savior takes care of us in many ways. Feeding the crowd was a caretaking of the people that could be observed by all of the 5 senses. Some blessings are harder to observe but may be a greater need. When we are healed, we may not see it happening or feel it, but it is definitely a miracle.

Psalm 145:17-21
The LORD is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.
Life isn’t fair but the Lord is always fair. Have you noticed that God will judge us after our life ends? Not on the day that we made that huge mistake. Not at the time when we treated that person unfairly. We should follow his example and not judge that person or their sin. God’s wisdom is vast!


Gracious God, as we walk through this day, help us to see each experience as an opportunity to reflect on what it means to be your child and a chance to help Jesus feed those in need, guided by your steadfast love for all. As night falls, we give this day back to you, trusting in you and in your unearned gift of grace to give us peace and rest. May you direct your angel to watch over us, as you took care of Elijah in despair. Amen

Pastor's Notes
Precious Children of God,
Have you been blessed by the Lord’s prayer this week? Or has it escaped from your mind since applying exegesis principles to it last Sunday. You focused on it last Sunday with silent reading, listening while I read it to you, and then we read it out loud together. Needless to say, we prayed for illumination during all of the steps.
When we stop exercising, eating well, or watching our health, it tends to grow out of control, doesn’t it? Does your prayer life grow out of control? Is Saint Peter saying “It’s him/her again when you pray? Do you hear, “you pray way too much”? I pray Saint Peter knows your voice by memory!

Holy God,
We try to fix and fasten you, but you will not be stayed. You are love in motion: always breathing us into being, calling us to serve, sustaining us in the wilderness. Come to us as the morning breaks. Soften what has become hardened, until our hearts glow in joy when we serve. May we spread the seeds of Peace and Love of your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Funeral for Rev. Preston Church was held yesterday, July 14th. It was a lovely and touching remembrance of a very good Christian man and Pastor. We will miss Pastor Preston.
The Christian Ladies Lunch will be held Saturday (July 18th) at the Marshall Family Restaurant. Please spread this information.
Our friends from Marshall Presbyterian Church will be with us this Sunday, the 19th. They are a blessing.

Pastor's Notes
Last Sunday was a blessing from God. With Ike’s children and grandchildren joining us for worship, we were blessed beyond measure.

Often, we do not realize that a Worship Service is a blessing from God, but it is. God’s Holy Word leads our services, prayers are spoken multiple times, by several of God’s servants “the Worship Committee members”, over the creation and selection of the scriptures, prayers, sermon, hymns, Order of Service and benediction. Quite often, the completed service plan may be changed during the service, as we are felt led by the Holy Ghost. Thank you, God, for the gift of the Worship Service at Walnut Presbyterian Church!
I would like to thank Norris Gentry for serving as reader of Sunday’s scripture. He delivered God’s Holy Word beautifully, as always. If you would like to serve as reader, please let me know.

Sunday, Holy Communion will be administered. Please join us if you can.
We have asked you to pray and contemplate on which type or cause of mission work, Walnut Presbyterian Church should provide. Please let a session member or your Pastor know of your thoughts on this matter asap. This topic will be discussed at Saturday’s meeting. All session meetings are open and transparent to members (except on the rare occasion of Closed Meetings, when delicate matters are discussed). Saturday’s Session Meeting is at 1pm.
The Christian Ladies Lunch will be held Saturday (July 18th at the Marshall Family Restaurant. Please spread this information. We were blessed at June’s lunch with good attendance and a fun time with women from 3 churches and 2 denominations. Thanks to all who attended!

43 behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass that when the virgin comes out to draw water, and I say to her, “Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink,” 44 and she says to me, “Drink, and I will draw for your camels also,”—let her be the woman whom the Lord has appointed for my master’s son.’
45 “But before I had finished speaking in my heart, there was Rebekah, coming out with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, ‘Please let me drink.’ 46 And she made haste and let her pitcher down from her shoulder, and said, ‘Drink, and I will give your camels a drink also.’ So I drank, and she gave the camels a drink also.
Before his prayer leaves his lips, God is answering. Rebekah responded exactly as the servant’s plea. Plus, she is from Abraham’s exact family line.
Did Abraham’s servant say, “ What great luck did I have!?”
No, He immediately bows his head and worships: “The LORD has led me in the way.”
When we ask of our God, do we truly expect? Do we recognize that it is Our Lord’s answer? Abraham believed that with God preparing the way, his servant would find the perfect wife for his son, Isaac. Rebekah was the answer to Abraham’s prayer and faith.

Good morning!
I hope all fathers enjoyed their special day. We pray you realize what an impact you make on the lives of your children, children’s children, and all around you. Thank you!
It was nice having our friends from Marshall Presbyterian Church with us last Sunday. They are such a joy to worship with.
We are moving through this summer at warp speed. Next Wednesday will be July the 1st. Wow!

Matthew 10:40-42
Welcome Christ in those Christ sends
10:40"Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.
10:41Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous,
10:42and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple -- truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward."
Some scripture requires pen and paper to figure out what the Lord is teaching us. For some, this is one of those scriptures. Whoever welcomes you, welcomes Christ, and whoever welcomes Christ welcomes our Creator. Got it. But what is a prophet’s reward? Is it different than a righteous person’s reward?
