What do we believe? We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and that none can come to the father except through Him. (John 14:6) We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, revealed directly from heaven to the writers and preserved intact through the centuries. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) We believe the Bible does not offer mere suggestions, nor is it outdated and irrelevant to the needs of modern society, but is timeless and applicable to everyone. We believe that the Bible testifies to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ to lead everyone to repentance and baptism and, finally, eternal life. Our worship is Christ-centered. We do our best to ensure that every aspect of our worship is in accordance with Scripture. Our worship of God is not designed to be flashy entertainment; rather, it is a reverent and dignified offering of the heart. Following the pattern and guidance of the New Testament, we sing without instrumental accompaniment. (Ephesians 5:19) The Lord's Supper is observed every Sunday according to the practice of early Christians. (Acts 20:7) Prayers are offered by the congregation. (Acts 12:5) A contribution is made by the members of the church every Sunday (1 Corinthians 16:1-2), but we do not solicit funds from those outside the church. We also have lessons from the Scriptures at each service designed to give biblical instruction and to help make meaningful applications to daily life.

This weekend, Alex and family are traveling to speak with the Walled Lake Church of Christ downstate. We are grateful for the partnership this congregation and many others have provided over the years to support the church up here and, connected to that, Let the Bible Speak.

”I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” (Phil. 1:3-5)

Brian Poe, who has worked with the Escanaba Church of Christ and Let the Bible Speak over the last four years, will be moving downstate later this summer to be closer to family. We are exploring options for him to continue to be involved with LTBS until Escanaba is able to secure a full-time preacher. Brian will finish his Colossians series through the month of June before Alex resumes hosting in July. Brian plans to continue preaching with the Traverse City Church of Christ as well as his work in India missions outreach.

Please pray for Brian, Jessie, the Escanaba congregation, and LTBS. We thank Brian for the many insightful lessons he’s brought to the UP!

We treasure the sacrifice motherhood demands. Thank you to all the women faithfully carrying out the mission of maternity God has gifted and challenged you with. “He has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed.” (Luke 1:48)

The Marquette congregation is blessed to have several men and women working with local schools as teachers or as administrative staff. Their insight and contribution to our communities as representatives of Christ, and to the education of the those within the church, children and adults, is incalculable. “Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” (James 3:1)
