Colossians 2:9 tells us the "whole fullness of deity dwells bodily" in the person of Jesus. Not only does this tell us something about Jesus' divine nature, but it also demonstrates that the unknowable God can be fully known by observing Jesus' life, crucifixion, and resurrection. In this, we see a God not only known but who knows and loves us.

On the 17th, we visited with the Plymouth Church of Christ and spoke with them about the important ministry work happening in the UP. This next weekend, we’re excited to attend the Walled Lake Church of Christ for the first time in a few years to do the same!

Brian Poe, who has worked with the Escanaba Church of Christ and Let the Bible Speak over the last four years, will be moving downstate later this summer to be closer to family. We are exploring options for him to continue to be involved with LTBS until Escanaba is able to secure a full-time preacher. Brian will finish his Colossians series through the month of June before Alex resumes hosting in July. Brian plans to continue preaching with the Traverse City Church of Christ as well as his work in India missions outreach.

Please pray for Brian, Jessie, the Escanaba congregation, and LTBS. We thank Brian for the many insightful lessons he’s brought to the UP!

Within a few years after Jesus’ resurrection, a fierce debate erupted within the Christian community, especially among the Greek polities. It was well-accepted philosophy at the time that the divine realm keeps far away from matters of men, everything from food to sexuality. The physical world was deemed impute. Then “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (Jn. 1:14) The idea of the Incarnation was incomprehensible to many, yet it was this unity of God and man that demonstrated the conciliatory power of the Gospel to ultimately reconcile man to God through the cross.

This Sunday, Brian explores the power of Christ to end our alienation from God through His flesh, as he continues walking through the book of Colossians. Watch at 8am on FOX UP or at 10am on TV6.

Last Sunday, Brian took us on a journey through the ancient Mediterranean world, specifically focusing on the settlement of Colossae. Next Sunday, he continues through the first chapter of Paul’s letter, highlighting the exceptional faith demonstrated by the church there. They weren’t perfect, and faced the reality of a very imperfect world, consumed by Greek philosophy—yet, they met this challenge boldly. Unfortunately, they were the exception not the norm.
